I am so confused.

I played EQII at launch, and not much more than that. But now I want to play the game once again. I have heard so much good about the pvp system, and since I'm a pvp'er, I want to give it a try.

But [Removed for Content] I am confused... how many expansion packs are there? 4? 5? Should I invest in them? What do they do? Any new races / classes that are absolute must-haves?

Can anyone give some advice to an old new player coming back to play? Any advice will do.

Thanks

Hey and welcome back to EQ2 If you get hold of the retail version (boxed) of the EoF expansion, that one will include the base game + all the expansions. Think its possible to buy digital on DD site. But, don't buy it directly from the SoE store (that one don't include the expansion packs). So, a small tip: Read trough the page where you buy it, and make sure it says "include all expansion packs" somewhere

I don't do PvP, but I don't think there is a EU PvP server now. It disappeared a couple of months back I think when they done some server merges.

The most crowded I do think is Splitpaw, but I doubt there is really that big of a difference between Splitpaw and Runnenye when it comes to population. About the PvP server, the eu pvp server died (population wise) and has been merged with the US PvP server (Venekor)

Holy....

Just noticed - my char is gone from the eu pvp server - and so is the server (as you mention). I had activated alot of vet items on him, will they be gone forever now?

It merged into the US PVP server... To get to your character, you need to get into the US servers. To get to the US servers... on the patcher before you click I Accept, you need to click United States from the Drop Down... I think this might redownload the game though. (This is the only way I know of to get to the US servers if you are on the EU servers.

Well dang... was coming back to the game to pvp, and now there's no eu pvp server? Crap

Are there even any europeans on the US-pvp? :O Since I'm in a different timezone I imagine the server would be pretty darn empty when I'm online

I was under the impression that you cannot do PVP combat on PVE servers. Am I wrong?

If you had a character on a Euro PvP server, it was transferred to Venekor a few months ago. I play mostly with people in European time zones, and there is a good bit of activity when we play. Give it a try

Oh and all your items, gear, and coin should be intact.

Your character should still have all its items and stats, just on the other server. As it was already stated before you accept the EULA you will need to look to the top right corner and select English [US] from the drop down menue. You might have a bit more patching to do but it will not take too long. Then you start the game as normal and you should see your character on the character select screen. There should be plenty of europeans on the US server. On any regular server you can find EU guilds, etc. So there should be even more on the PvP server since there is no more a EU PvP server. You just need to find yourself a good guild.

There is no open PvP on the PvE servers. You can do some dueling and dueling with bets and there is also an arena but I have never been there. I heard almost no one uses the arena.

cosmosdk wrote:
I was under the impression that you cannot do PVP combat on PVE servers. Am I wrong?
basically, no. PvP ruleset fights only exist on pvp servers. you can however have duels on pve servers, using pve rulesets. Its way way waaaay unbalanced, but its still fighting other players.
