I want to play a templar, but I'm really torn on the races. I'm leaning towards high elf or Fae. I know that stat wise, race doesn't make much difference but I'm kind of addicted to Glide on the fae, even though I find high elf's a bit better aesthetically.

If you had to recreate your templar, would you stay the same race, or would you change? Are Fae really the only sensible option if starting up these days?

It's fairly safe to say the biggest reason I'm playing this game is because I like my Fae so much. The wings, and permanent safe fall are just fun. I jump off of Kelethin out of habit now. If I played another race, I wouldnt last very long

I love my fae templar but when I started raiding I wished I'd made an elf... I'm crotch height to most other races so in a mass of people it isn't the best view.

I would stay with a tall race. Its nice being able to see over everyone.

I just started playing again about 2 weeks ago. I had a ratonga templar, but she was only level 24 and since I was pretty much a newbie after not playing for over 2 years, I made a new halfling templar. (they didn't have SOGA models when I played last, and I adore SOGA halflings) I tried a fae and while I like them a lot, I liked the halfling more and felt she fit the character I had in mind a lot more. I don't find myself missing safefall as mych as I thought.

So I would say play the race you like best, and that fae are definitely a great race, but definitely not the only option when starting out

But dont pick one, cause we dont want to many of us running around. Me, I dont like fairies... so I would say go with the elf. But theyre just big wingless fairies too...

Ratonga templars are the best, you dont have to be good all the time.

Plus plate looks nice on female rats

It's all about glide.

when i play my fae, glide gets me in trouble at times. It does help too.

My templar is a gnome. Normally the height isn't a problem, but in raids I use the guise of the deceiver to switch to dark elf illusion. (missing mask HQ reward)there are also the collection quest rewards that consume a bone of that race to give you an illusion in that zone.

Like the gnome said!

I also use my HQ mask to go dark elf when I need some height. However, as a Dwarf I look way better in plate armor.

And yes, I would make another Dwarf. The only way I wouldn't is if I was going to roleplay with the wife and needed to pick a similar race to hers.

My Templar is Wood Elf, my PvE Warden is High Elf. If I had it to do over, I'd make my Templar High Elf and my Warden Wood Elf, just for the RP. My PvP Warden and Defiler are both Dark Elf...which I wouldn't change, that's just perfect for both the roles of Evil Healer.
Fae 100% [Removed for Content] me off the other day I was on my Gnome and out of habit jumped off the Kelethin platform and died and like [Removed for Content]?????? Forget I didnt have wings on him.
