First of all, my system specs: 2.4GHz P4 CPU 1.5GB of DDR333 memory 256MB GeForce 6800 GT Windows XP SP2 What I have already tried: -Checking for spyware. None found. -Updating drivers to my videocard, soundcard, and other hardware. -Firewall and Router settings have been taken care of. No problems. My problem: When I log into the game I experience lag when I love around. When I try talking with "say" or try talking on a channel, as soon as I hit enter, my Wi-Fi connection cuts out and dies.
In trying to find a solution to the problem, I went into the task manager while the game was running. When I typed something and pressed enter, I noticed the game would eat up 100% of CPU time. By clicking on EQ2.exe and setting it's priority to below normal, my Wi-Fi connection would be able to reconnect and I can play the game as normal. However, the thing is, using the same exact PC setup as I have now, I was able to play the game WITHOUT this problem last January (I play off and on). So I don't know what changed with my computer between now and then to cause this. I am also experiencing the same exact problem with another popular MMORPG. It seems to me my that maybe the game and my wi-fi connection are battling each other for CPU time. This has never happened before though. I've got a couple of new extra hard drives laying around and I'm considering doing a fresh WindowsXP install, then install the game on top of that to see if that will fix it. Though before I try that, I would appreciate some other suggestions if you will. =P EDIT: Oh yeah. I would also like to add that as of late, my computer has been taking extremely long to shutdown. Like 6 - 8 minutes or so.
