Coming from LotRO and just started a SK on Crushbone. I leveled to 16 in the Darklight woods, and also got my Tradeskills up to about level 10. I do have some questions though as this game is entirely new to me. 1) I chose Alchemy as my profession in order to make Combat Skill upgrades. What should I focus on Harvesting? I see nodes of all sorts, but I am unsure of what to be picking up since bag space is limited. 2) Where should I be leveling? Is the Commonlands really the best choice? I did some exploring and it just seemed to un streamlined. Darklight was such a nice set path of leveling. 3) Are there any main quests I should be working on? Like an overarching story? 4) Language Primers. I saw them for sale in Neriak. Should I buy these?

If you already did it all in there, you might wanna go to Commonlands or antonnica, or even greater faydark. gfay is the one most like dlw of those. Other things you can do is indulge yourself in dungeon clawls, either wailing caves off cl, or blackburrow off ant. Most zones in EQ2 doesnt have a nice set path of leveling, you get to go tinker with quite a fwe different quest lines that most of the time will take you through zones, but dlw is special.

Nopes. You get some really, really long questlines when you get higher lvls, but there are no overarchings torylines. Well, unless you delve into lore. there is a lot of fun lore to get into. Much of it comes with quests.

some ery few quests require you to know specific languages, if you want the languages buy them, you wont miss out on anything if you dont.

1. Alchemy uses loams, roots and gemstones, primarily. That means you need to harvest both types of rock nodes and root nodes. However, be aware that nodes don't necessarily respawn as the same thing, so leaving all those wood and bush nodes up will eventually come back to haunt you.

Fortunately, it's usually fairly easy to sell your extra stuff, even if only for a few coppers. Plus, you can trade with others who are harvesting in the same area.

As for bag space, type /claim and get your free 12-slot bag if you haven't already.

2. Darklight Woods is one of the newest zones in the game. The quests there were designed to be linear and easy to find. Commonlands has been around since game launch, and though it's been revamped a bit, the quests there can be harder to find. Anyway, you're growing up, and don't need to be held by the hand. Go exploring. At 16, Commonlands is where you should be.

3. There is no One Ring. No, EQ2 is a pretty free-form game, with thousands of quests available to you. While many of them relate to in-game lore, and quite a few are parts of quest series, there's not one single quest line that goes on forever (though some of them sure seem to!).

4. Languages can be useful in obtaining quests later on. However, at 16, chances are that the 12s to buy them is more than you can comfortably pay for something that might be useful later on. I'd say to wait until you either need the language for a quest you want to do, or until you've got enough cash to make the purchase trivial.

But as others have said you want to harvest everything you can; if you're in a guild or have friends it's easy enough to find someone willing to trade a resource they don't use for one they might. Loam is especially easy to get people to trade for. Also the more you harvest the more likely you are to find a rare resource, and while you might not need it you can do a lot with one. Say you find a blackened iron cluster, the rare metal for tier 2 (level 10-19 items) you could get yourself a very good weapon or piece of armor made. Or you could put that cluster on the broker, on Permafrost blackened iron cluster consistently sell for 30-50 gold each. Just finding one of those would be enough to finance a whole new set of big bags for you. 2) Where should I be leveling? Is the Commonlands really the best choice? I did some exploring and it just seemed to un streamlined. Darklight was such a nice set path of leveling.

If you've finished up in Darklight (though at 16 you should still have some stuff to do) you can head out to the Commonlands. Darklight is a brand new zone and is much more well put together than the Commonlands but there is *WAY* more stuff to do out there it's just far more spread out. Though after level 20 or so you can probably start poking your head into Nektulos Forest or maybe even Butcherblock Mountains if you care to travel that far.

3) Are there any main quests I should be working on? Like an overarching story?

Not really, though there are a few Heritage quests in your level range you could tackle. Heritage quests are longer more involved quests for (in)famous items from EQ1. The items are very high quality magic items that are generally far better than similar items of that level. You'll also receive a large amount of status for completing the quest and even if the reward isn't something you'll equip you can turn it into a display for showing of in your home. At your level you could go to Greater Faydark and work on getting the Dwarven Ringmail Tunic or head out to the Commonlands and start on the quest for the Greater Lightstone (there are a couple of others, but those are the most common). These quests tend to be a lot of fun, give good rewards, and are longer and more involved than standard 'go here and kill x orcs' quests. Be warned though that many will require a group to complete, but if you are new they are a good way to meet other players. 4) Language Primers. I saw them for sale in Neriak. Should I buy these?

Not really required, there are a few quests you might need to know another language to access/complete but they are few and far between. If you're new and you're strapped for money (which you must be since you said bag space is tight) than there are definitely much better places for you to put your money for now.
