Clothing slot?

Can anybody give more detail on how the clothing slot is going to work? will it only accept 'clothing' items? like the kind you get from the city merchants. Or can you fill it with any type of gear? Will clothing slotted items take dmg when you die? So many questions, anybody have answers?

Also, do you have to HAVE the item to use that particular look? And do you have to be able to wear it? For instance I love the look of my PvP set gear, but because I'm in Exile, I cannot wear it. I also love the look of Nightchord, but I don't have the entire set.
