Ok, well I was extreemly disappointed with EoF and the SoD quest. It wasn't too bad towards the end, but the implementation (semi-monthly, several months after the expansion was released), the content, the the lore, and the lengthy were all... pardon my french... [Removed for Content]-poor. I really enjoyed the Prismatic line back when it was new. I loved the Peacock line and enjoyed the format (excpet for farming eyes of course) I think that Claymore has been the pinnacle of major main quest lines, I have ever completed. SoD, was extreemly pitiful by comparison. I won't dwell on it... mainly because EoF was otherwise a fantastic expansion, and I was very impressed with Unrest and Nerriak... but

I wanted to know... espically considering the 'no heritage' quest comments at fan-fair (because of the class-specific epic quest lines for an epic reward too so much time)... will RoK have a long main storyline (ala claymore) in at launch?

I haven't read anything... but assumed they would (I though soulfire was a mistake and they knew it), but after the fan-faire comments, I got worried. Any thoughts, or info?

I would suspect that with the work involved for the Epics that may be the Major questline. Just call it a hunch. I would like to see a major line but my gut says Epics are the Major questline.

I agree, I think the Epics will be your major questline in ROK.

It would be nice to see ~2 heritage/signature type quests in RoK as well. I know it probably will not be done by release, but it should be added somewhere with that whole year before another expansion is released. They are fun involved story driven quests. Something liek the fungi tunic and lamanation would be a great revisit for a heritage.

Well that blows... .

Don't get me wrong... I love the idea of the eqic questlines, its just that I have a feeling that each of them will be on the order of the diety questlines and nowhere near the level of earlier prismatic/peacock/claymore lines.

I could see them intertwine... the individual epic questlines give some more background and flavor to the main questline, but I hope everyone's first impression is just wrong.

That was 5 rather easy almost solo'able quests that were nothing on the order of EPIC. I never completed the EQ1 epic, but if this quest is able to be done in less than a week by all but the MOST HARDCORE of HARDCORE players I will be seriously disappointed. However, I love your thought of intertwining the epic quest lines. That would be a very smart decision from a storyline standpoint and a quest/programming standpoint. Code reuse is very nice. Let's say the epic quest is like the Claymore - roughly 20 quests. If 1/3 were completely shared, 1/6 were shared by mele vs casters (fighters/scouts vs priests and mages) and then 1/6 shared by classes (read sorcerer, not Wizard) and then 1/3 were subclass specific that would greatly reduce the work of writing and implementing individual quests but hopefully ADD to the overall epic experience in that it's a shared experience by all and betters the games total story. I like it.

Yeah, I am hoping that the Epic questlines are connected at least for most of the way thru the heroic parts and do what Claymore did in guiding you thru all the new zones telling/revealing a story as you go. This would kill three birds all at once. You get a good over-all quest and you get all the new expansion lore and you don't have to try to get people to your epic quest without getting anything for themselves. Now the only problem in connecting them could make logjams worse if there are mobs that need to be killed that are not instanced. Sure that is a way to help make getting them rarer but I think the rarity will come in getting the actual epic versions of the weapons. I would guess the epic mob(s) to get those will be equivalent of the current Avatars or at least Wuoshi.

It will have 24 main questlines, one for each class.

LordPazuzu wrote:
It will have 24 main questlines, one for each class.
just because the lines are differant does not mean they can't intertwine or for that matter have you kill the same mobs(or possably differant mobs standing right next to each other) for more info on this please check AQs 1-6
