Ok so I'm returning to the game after a long break. I'm running vista and game and launchpad are running in compatability for win xp sp2 and running as administrator for my default and all users. I had to go in and set the launchpad.exe too just to ge it to the EULA. Now I can enter my Station name and PW it logs in boom error. " Unable to establish connection to update server please try again or click on initialize." Click Same thing. I've been to the test on the webpage and get the "If you are reading this then you have successfuly connected to the update server." I am running thorugh a router but same thing happens if I directly connect to the modem. I've been talking to support on thier page but am now frustrated beyond my tollorance. It's stuped to contact your administrator and ISP. *Yes I checked with my ISP we ran some tests on my modem and all is well." As I thought it would be considering this is my same modem I used to use. I am using windows firewall and have the exceptions set up.

I'm at my wits end.

Any ideas?

I had the exact same problem, would seem to be going fine until the last moment when it would tell you download canceled and you were stuck. I am not sure of all the mechanics of it but what I had to do was turn off UAC within Vista, running as admin and under xp compatibility did nothing for me. This isn't the safest route because it turns off Windows User Access security but it should get EQ2 to work. Before doing this you may want to do a bit of research on what it will do to your system, but it is reversible and I haven't noticed anything yet. Go to the command prompt type msconfig, go to the Tools tab, highlight the "Disable UAC" entry in the listbox, then click the launch button at the bottom. Exit the command window that opens when it is finished. Reboot. Then start EQ2 again and be prepared for another hour or two of downloads because the UAC prevents the launcher from downloading alot of the files it needs to update. Good luck.
