Hey there. I'm completely new to the Everquest world, but I was curious... From what I can gather, both the Iksar and Dark Elves are very proud and have a strong sense of their history and identity, but do they get along at all? Does it make any sense for an Iksar to live in Neriak? Both options (the races hate eachother or the races have respect for one another) seem viable to me, but like I said, I'm knew and don't know the details. Any thoughts?

Well, the Dark Elves invaded Kunark by setting up their outpost in The Overthere. They were in some conflict then, tho nothing major that I know of.

However, the Iksar were planning an invasion of the continent of Faydwer in retaliation to the elves of Faydwer setting up Firiona Vie. So, I'd fully expect the Iksar to have had plans to destroy the DE outpost and launch a counterattack as well. Also, Iksar hate everyone, good or evil, so in all likelyhood, they have a great dislike for DEs. With the DE belief system and worship of Inny, I don't doubt that the DEs would rather try to enslave the Iksar before befriending them.

BTW there was a very long and involved thread on the In Testing Feedback forum about Iksar starting in Neriak, which still to me makes no sense. Even if Christanos was welcoming to new Iksar, there is no Iksar racial presence in Neriak. There were no Iksar living in Neriak before it was sealed, and none when it was reopened. This means that ALL, and I do mean EVERY SINGLE ONE, Iksar that now live in Neriak came to Neriak from somewhere else, most likely Freeport, where there IS a racial presence. Going from one city to another denotes changing citizenships, no matter how you look at it. Therefore, Iksar should never have been able to start in Neriak, though betrayel/changing citizenship is completely understandable.

The races there still hate each other's guts. The Iksar were forced to live there against thier will.

There's no actual reason given for why the Iksar can begin in Neriak. It's just a technical reasoning that all evil races start there regardless.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the iksar empire on Kunark hasn't changed in the last 500 years. That being: Kill anyone who doesn't have scales, and then kill anyone who doesn't have grey scales.

My thoughts on this kinda run:

All evil races can start in Neriak, for all evil races Bar the iksar, there is room for that, IMHO iksar should have been swapped out for Half Elves, who are far more appropriate.

I think the current trend of the unholy trinity of Inny, CT and R Zek means that the races loyal to them would abide by the 'treaty' those gods are currently abiding by. Honestly the Iksar, Teir'dal and ogres are the three 'big players' in evil terms and the builders of empires and any working together would only be via the order of their gods and the presence of major external threats a'la Qeynos and Kelethin and possibly the Dragons.

Ariakis T'Koraxx

Inquisitor of Innoruuk

Raven Guard

That would break the thing about how all evil races start in Neriak.

I suppose it depends on what your other half is... if you're a half-Teir, then I guess you're a bit less likely to be neutral-neutral... though, personally, I don't hold to the evil-by-birth mode of thought for common races. Creations such as Fae and Arasai being an exception. The original Teir, having been created by Innoruuk, of course are evil by nature. Subsequent generations might have tendencies, sure, but I think their "evilness" is a cultural thing, rather than biological.

No. They have no reason to get along well at all, depending on their background. Complex Answer? The Iksar, on their own, have always been wary of relationships with other races. Though due to the dark elves involvement with the Cult of the Arisen centuries ago, any Iksar who is at all knowledgeable in following the ways of old will have a deep loathing for the teir`dal. So ... no matter what way you look at it, Iksar_101 generally won't have a good opinion of dark elves.
