so to start with u have fury (healer) troubador(scout) illusionist(mage) mage mage mage so 4 mages , now its fury (healer) troubador(scout) monk(fighter) illusionist(mage) mage/sk(fighter) mage so 1 / 2 maegs is ur way of maknig fighters better for raids i think that its simply changing groups into buffbot and the 1 lucky person with all the buffs , being wasted on the rest of the group ho aernt going to use them anyway
When did there ever have to be a 'mage group' rather than just another DPS group? If a new setup works better people will adapt and use it, sticking to rigid ideas will only hurt you in the end. Monk and SK will benefit nicely from mage procs placed on them, INT and melee buffs from fury and group and Illu buffs. Troub and Illu both do haste which is wasted on mages, illus can also get illusary arm i think its called for some double attack.
I agree why need to be mage group if you just stuck mages there lot of buffs go waisted 1 good melee could use them very much. Fury-Agitate (85str/85agi till canceled + 60haste/60dps proc buff) Troubadur-haste, jester, crit Wizard-str buff, melee proc buff Warlock- 2 melee proc buffs (if I remember right) Illu- haste, IA (25% double attack) There is a lot of logic to put 1 good melee in that group and if he can help mages with some buff he have even better.

warlock and wizard melee procs dont stack and we only have 1 , the warlock one is better and the 4% aggro transfer power thing is better for the wizard troubas shouldnt have there haste buff on butive just been used to having "melee" and "mage" group not melee and dps..
Well if you add a 2nd or 3rd melee DPS character (troub IS melee dps still) then you have plenty of targets for a wizzy/warlock and conjy proc buffs. Troubs as far as im aware can mix haste buff into their layout easily, ive not been one since 54 but i can only think of the proc buff, the hate decreaser and the usual brias as being 100% needed. Resist buff is situational, defence buff is really not worthwhile, reflect buff i cant say i ever found that useful and haste buffs the troub and any other melee players. With an illu you could even drop brias except on really power intensive fights. Dont look at groups as being any type of DPS class just consider them DPS groups and then work out how best to make use of peoples buffs to get the best effect.

Why does the monk and SK even have to be in the group? Maybe at the moment they do, BUT the changes to their group buffs were a precursor to the raidwide buffs being implemented in the next GU. So after the next GU, the monk and SK can be anywhere in the raid and the mages will get their casting haste and +damage from the monk and SK. So basically, I would not worry about radically changing things unless you 're having problems with content and think this may be a solution.

Well, for one thing.. SK and Monk abilities will become raid wide in GU38. So your point about having to have them in the Mage group is only for the month or so until they happens. And as for SK's in general... they parse a heckuva lot higher when spec'd for magic damage. Which includes Int buffs and procs on spellcast. So yeah, they'd benefit greatly from being in the mage group anyways.

you will see more dps out of illus buffs on scouts

arm > TC almost every time

syngerism(sp) is raid wide and the buff you want from illus if you are a caster

best illus group IMO

dirge illus ranger brig/[Removed for Content] fury/inq and a wiz/war/necro/conj

ranger gets arm, caster gets TC and wis lines buffs from dirge

if fury agitate on the brig/[Removed for Content] and vim on casters, i always called it a 10k dps group because it would do 10k+

true dps group focused on buffing the 3, illus and dirge can pull 1k+ easy and furys can do it to it if not having to spam heal

and who would pick a monk over anything else thats a caster!

I was just pointing on buffs that go waisted in usual "mage" group never sad that all of them should be casted on 1 toon and like Jalek sad troub is melee still even if he do a lot of spell dmg 2. After GU38 monk shouldn't be in that group for sure, they self buff haste a lot and that is what that group provide the most, that is good spot for predator class. Might be that is because I play assassin but think ranger or me could use the best all that buffs raid wide. (lot of haste and double attack) My friends rangers might not agree but I would put assassin first, proc buffs are melee will not activate from ranged and good ranger with best bows do more OT than good assassin doing same dmg, but assassin just turn mob for while ranger pull it long way back and make lot of problems than. Before I get attacked from some rouge for not mentioning them here, they need more DPS buffs than haste so should be better in other group with coercer, dirge, inq ....

Also don't forget if the Monk is specced right he can lower the whole groups hate with their Monk AA end ability.
