<p>I'm a long time player of EQ1, trying out EQ2 now on a free trial. I like to do some mild roleplaying with my characters through hotkey emotes. So I made my ogre and came up with a few emote macros to give me a chuckle now and again, but when I put them on my hotkey bar I can't distinguish them by the icon. In EQ1 hotkeys were assigned titles which showed up in place of icons . . . is there a way to do this in EQ2? does anyone know of a mod I can download that will let me do this? </p><p>I'm not sure if I'm being clear so let me give an example:</p><p>macro -- > :scratches her butt and looks confused. </p><p>icon label --> scratch</p><p>macro --> :pokes the monk with a stick /say "he dead"</p><p>icon label --> poke</p><p>If I have a hokey bar with a whole line of emotes like this with the in-game icons, i'll never know what they are. If I can give a little label like "scratch" to show up instead of the picture I'd know exactly what the button does. </p>

At one time I did see a mod for text on your macros. Try eq2interface.com I believe it was something that placed the macro name over top of the icon in text. Was particular hard to see in the screen shots. There are a lot of icons that you can use already in game. Other than the already present macro icons made available by SOE you can use any of your spell or ability icons for one of your macros. Open your macro tab. I believe the quick button is "O". Open the "edit macro" for the macro you want to change. Drag and drop your spell from your spell book on to the macro icon.

At the top of your macro customization menu there's a blank spot there for the title of your macro. Also, if it helps, you can change the look of the icon on the top right by using the arrows. If you have pop-up tabs on (which they should be I think, by default) your macro title will pop up momentarily after scrolling over it if you've named it in the aforementioned box. Good luck, and welcome to EQ2. edit: Think I misunderstood the question, bah. No, there isn't a way to edit what your macros say without learning to do xml modding (i.e. creating custom interface). I'm not even sure if you could do it then. Not ever heard of anyone trying to edit the pictures in the basic macro menu. Good luck if you try to though. (You can set the delay on your ui pop-ups to be almost nonexistent, btw.)
