Hello, I just got the game. I have a few questions however. 1) What are the main differences between a Troubadour and a Dirge? Which is more desired in groups, and which is a better soloer? 2) Are Wardens able to solo decently and are they valued in groups as well? And can I fight while in a form/illusion? 3) How do I remove NPC text from showing up in my chat box? I tried unchecking private chat, which worked, but then I wasn't able to see tells. 4) I noticed that on the hotbar, there are spinners. Is there a way to map these spinners to a certain key. I'm wondering because I am planning on using a controller. 5) If I don't make an Evil character, how many quests and such will I be missing out on? I really want to just have two characters; a Wood Elf Bard and a Halfling Druid. I was trying to change that so that one character is evil, but I really didn't want to change the race..and it might kill the lore if I betray. 6) Regarding betraying; two things.. a) Is my class automatically changed, or can I just become evil? I'm wondering about a Wood Elf Troubador here. If I betray to Neriak, or any other city, do I automatically become a Dirge? And vice versa? b) If I've betrayed to an evil city, does this make my character 'evil'? I guess what I'm asking is; is the game clear-cut Good and Evil or are there neutralities depending on race? Thanks!

1)Not to much diffrence when soloing but when in groups Troubs favour the caster and Dirges favour the melee types.

2)Yes Wardens can solo well and are wanted in groups as a healer the the Illusion if a "fluff" and doesent effect game play, you can turn the illisions off...

3)not sure on this one it might be under the chat options in the main game options.

4)the spinners are maped as primary , secondary and thirdly as "Shift", "Ctrl", and "Alt" not sure which is which tho.

5)As a good char you will not be missing much as in most cases you will out lvl some quests. and its only the inner city ones you miss but they doint matter anyways..

6a)no the class is not automaticly changed , however you will need to change it befor geting a house there. It resets all your spells to APP 1 and you will have a choice between becomming a dirge or a troub. (Netural class)

6B)Yes it does but unless your on a PVP server it doesent realy matter as you can still group with others

Both are highly desired in the later game. In the early game, people don't seem to care so much since they don't necesarily know what all a bard brings to a group. Both solo decently, depending on your strategy. Some argue that they're not very good, but I feel like I do fine on my dirge, and I don't even have my ancient teachings spells yet. 2) Are Wardens able to solo decently and are they valued in groups as well? And can I fight while in a form/illusion?

My warden solos extremely well. I'm using the melee CA spec on the EoF tree and working down the STR line now, and I can take blue heroic named only 3 levels below me without too much difficulty at all. I was in a group the other day where I was primary healer, I didn't try to do much damage I didn't think, and I still outparsed the ranger and wasn't far behind the wizard zone-wide. Makes me wish I'd started a warden a long time ago. . . . And yes, you can fight while in illusion form. I tend not to, though, as the forms tend to not look as good as my regular humanoid form, IMO. 3) How do I remove NPC text from showing up in my chat box? I tried unchecking private chat, which worked, but then I wasn't able to see tells.

Instead of unchecking "Private chat" hit the little + next to that line, then only uncheck the "NPC Chat" sub-line. By unchecking "Private Chat" you turned off 6 or 7 channels, actually. . . . 4) I noticed that on the hotbar, there are spinners. Is there a way to map these spinners to a certain key. I'm wondering because I am planning on using a controller.

Not that I'm aware of, but I don't know. After all, I've seen a video of a person mapping EQ2 to work with 2 Wii controllers, so I suppose theoretically anything's possible. 5) If I don't make an Evil character, how many quests and such will I be missing out on? I was trying to change that so that one character is evil, but I really didn't want to change the race..and it might kill the lore if I betray.

There are a couple of hundred "lowbie quests" on the good and evil sides that are more or less missed if you don't do betrayal. That said, most of them aren't really that big a deal, and quite a lot of them are actually little "learn about your race" quests, specific to each race, so you'd miss them anyway unless you rolled a toon of each race. That or "kill 10 rats to learn how to fight in combat." There aren't any "overall lore" quests in the 1-20 range that I can think of -- only race-specific lore, as I recall. 6) Regarding betraying; two things.. a) Is my class automatically changed, or can I just become evil? And vice versa?

Troubadors are given the option to change upon betrayal completetion, but are not required to do so. The bards are "neutral" classes, and can be from either city. the only forced changes are the specific good/evil counterparts -- monk/bruiser, paladin/shadowknight, etc. b) If I've betrayed to an evil city, does this make my character 'evil'? I guess what I'm asking is; is the game clear-cut Good and Evil or are there neutralities depending on race?

The only time good/evil really means anything at all is on a PvP server, and even there it's just to give you target to go after for PvP. On a PvE server it means so little that the players have lobbied for (and gotten) a ton of restrictions between the 2 sides removed. Anymore all it really means is where you start playing the game and where you call home to at night. Nothing else. The brokers show all goods from both sides. You can freely interact, send mail, exchange goods, etc etc. Thanks!
