View Full Version : Re: Spells in the Expansion
Here is a little tease of what to expect from RoK:
In the long term, we are busy working on finalizing spells for the next expansion. Unlike in the past we will not be following the "14 level rule" (whereby you only see spell upgrades every 14 levels).

Expect most of your spells to get upgraded in the expansion, along with the addition of a new spell for each subclass.

Temptation

Bards (scouts) have heals and rez. So do fighters. Not a big deal to give us tracking. Of course as a wood elf it should be a useful racial trait for me anyway instead of waste of a choice for not being a scout.

Name one general ability that priest have that other can't do also. Lets see:

Ressurection - priest, scouts, fighters, mages.

Healing - priest, scouts, fighters, mages.

Buffs - Priest, scouts, fighters, mages.

Debuffs - priests, scouts, fighters, mages.

Cures - priest, scouts, fighters, mages.

Speed buffs/travel spells - priests, scouts, fighters, mages.

Tracking - scouts only ????????????????

There is nothing that priest can do that other classes can't do. We heal for more then figters, scouts and mages. Scouts and mages either dps for more or have more utility (bards/enchanters) then fighters and priests. Fighters can taunt better although scouts have it also. There is no reason why non scouts can't have tracking. Evac can be done by wizards, SK's and wardens so that is already out there.

Whatever they do just normalize the drops of all masters please. It sucks that some masters drop so often you can barely sell them and others almost never drop at all so that eitehr you'll never see one or if you do it's like 30+pp. I hope SOE can balance that drop rate more.

The heck with all that ....

Spawn many trees so everybody gets confused ... and line of site is disrupted ....Then grasping thorns keep slowing them down and causing minor slashing dmg ... while evil little animals keep nipping at their ankles and interrupting them..... hehehehehhe ~The Forest of Terror~

200 meter AoE!!!!
Agreed. The Forest of Terror is the best idea we, as a community, have ever come up with. You didn't mention duration. I think 3 minutes would about do it. Not nerfed in PvP.

I think this should be implemented for RoK.

well my 200 meters was a bit farfetched though ...so i didnt mention duration ...but to match that ...then a couple hrs would be good dont ya think .... non cancelable.

But seriously maybe 20 meter radius .... with trees spaced at 8ish meters min from each other with about 12 trees and the slashing dmg is relative to how close you are to a tree (and scrap the animals)... But i think 3 min might be a bit to long ... maybe match protecting grove or sand storm.

Hehe

I'm interested to see what warden's unique spell they are giving us for level 80, and which Ancient Teachings spells they are going to upgrade since they said they are only upgrading a couple.

But If it were a way long casting time with trees popping up 1 by 1 then a longer duration would be appropriate ... they could be pets (therefore killable) but tuff ones ...Imagine the particle effect on that casting graphic

LOL I like forest of terror. Doubt they would ever do it just because of the lag but oh so fun if they did hehe.

I would love to see our tree become AE immune at the very least and maybe even do raid wide heals. It's not like the heals are massive right now or in anyway overpowered. All they really do is give you that extra sec or two to save someone with real heals.

Oh, Kisy brings up a good point about our new spell on raids. The Forest of Terror (tm) would have to work on Epic mobs, as well. The first effect of it should be on the mob..the side benefit would be [Removed for Content] the raid off.

Ok..so: The Mini Forest of Fear - 12 AAs, small saplings, a few gila monsters, sharp pointy roots - has a 3% chance to root, fear and terrorize Epic mobs - fits in the corner.

The Forest Of Terror - 50AAs - Huge Old Growth Redwoods, Horrible monsters with pointy teeth, Snarly tangly roots - 100% chance to root, fear and terrorize all enemies including Epic monsters within a 25 yard radius, plants itself right in front of the Main Tank, blocking his vision, but doing his job, so it's ok.

I think SoE should hire me for spell description writing.
