View Full Version : Solo DPS Parse Numbers?
So i'm looking through the topics and I see lots of info about what I should be doing in a Raid.. which is really what I'm looking for however, what I'd really like to see is tell me what your numbers look like solo. Personally I'm under the impression that DURING the raid is not the best time to be screwing around with AA respec and other such things... So to know that my respecs are heading me in the right direction what should I be doing DPS wise consistently if I were say watching the DPS Mini-Parse in ACT? Last Night after moving over to the STA/WIS/INT 4-4-8 Spec, with spider stance I was averaging 5-600 per Basilisk in BM, occasionally when relying on AutoAttack it'd drop to mid to high 400's and when everything was up and Icould just let loose I could push High 8's to low 9's on a fight. My gear is so-so and I'm still missing several masters due to pricing... and I've just recently started to pay attention to my DPS at all, since that seems to be what raids want out of the monks as tons of other things OT better than we do (though not to say i haven't had the chance to be bait and puller several dozen times) So what should I be doing where do I need help, and what Adornments should I be looking for. I can be found here... <a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/characters/character_profile.vm?characterId=388881109" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...terId=388881109</a> feel free to pick apart my gear and setups... oh and right now all I have Adorned is my MoA necklace.

<p>I haven't run solo DPS parses in a while. I will do some on the basilisks and let you know how it comes out. </p><p>1. Weapons:</p><p>Fists of Pain and Bashing are nice, but it's not good to run one 1.8s and one 2.5s dual wield. To maximize DPS, you want to time your CAs between autoattacks (because autoattacks wait while you are casting and recovering from CAs). If you are running two different dual wield delays, this is almost impossible to do. Of course, if the only matched weapons available to you are inferior, it may be better to stay with the mismatched ones.</p><p>2. Equipment:</p><p>Do you have the EoF expansion? If so, you can find quite a few upgrades for what you have through non-raid sources. Go run the EoF instances and get the Wu's (EoF legendary monk set) armor. Not EoF, but do the claymore questline for the interim rewards (in particular, the jewelry). Do the Marr questline and get the Cloak of Valor (+Str and DPS proc). Get the Ivy Shrouded Earring of Tunare (+8 DPS buff).</p><p>3. Adornments:</p><p>I assume you have the +10 DPS neck adornment. You can also put a +10 DPS adornment on your Dragonhide satchel -- that should be your first priority. I would wait on adorning your armor, as you can readily upgrade most of it. Also, adorn your weapons. I run one power tap and one damge proc on mine.</p><p>4. AAs:</p><p>Minor point, but why, oh why, did you put the "extra" point in the intelligence stat? I recommend Mantis star, if you are going with the 4/4/8 Wis/Int/Sta setup. I'm not sure that setup is the way to go, however. This can be debated, but since they lowered the timer on Crane Flock to 3 minutes, I believe that going all the way down the wisdom line is the best for overall DPS. Crane Flock provides a MAJOR DPS spike, particularly on multiple mob encounters. I went all the way down both Wis and Int -- in addition to raiding I mess around soloing names and duoing really tough stuff with a friend, so Eagle Shriek is very nice. If I were going to optimize for raid DPS, I would likely go with the whole Wis line, 4/4/8 Int and 4/5 Sta. (Mantis star is a VERY nice little debuff. It won't show in DPS numbers, but test it by killing your basilisks with and without opening on Mantis Star - you will see that it takes away quite a bit of their total health.)</p>
1. The issue with weapon timing being matched is a new piece of Information since I started looking, this I intend to remedy as soon as possible. 2. Been doing the EoF instances just not very often... frustrating after 15-20 runs to NEVER ever seen anything but the one time the guildies go without me the Monk stuff drops. 3. Yes to neck Adornment, since I have the items I'll get another made for the Satchel. As for the Armor I was wondering about those. Is the WU set gear end all be all for Monks? 4. the Extra Point was an error, and rather than respec to clear one mistake as I was just testing out the new numbers.... I'll leave it until the next full respec. As for the Lines.. this is why I was asking... there is lkots of speculation and conjecture around here about what is "best" I'm looking for good solid consistent DPS numbers in the realms of 8-900 consistent solo(if that realistic) with spider stance ( as I duo and group alot) I only run the Off. Stance when raiding since I don't need the added def with raids full of healers. And thanks for the info, I'll look into the changes again tonight and report what I can find out.

4 4 8 on Sta line is worst choice for dps. The 24% single target proc is a joke. You get about 15-20 dps gain maximum. I have respec to sta twice and after parsing day by day, I never get it back. It's a joke. 8 points for extra 15-20 dps is silly. Since you are a monk, int/wis line is the best choice for solo or raid. Based on the number you posted of auto-attack, it seems right. It's not bad of 400+ dps from auto-attack. Your problem is that your dps from CA is too low. An average dps from CA of a fully mastered monk is around 500-600 dps. Your number is about 200. The only way to get more dps from CA is spell quality.

I'll be respec'ing again tonight and looking for some more Adornments until I can get those last few masters. Again thanks to all for the responses... if anyone else has hints or tips I'd be happy to read.

I personally see 2 things I would change asap. MORE STR gear/adorments and toss those rings into the bag and whip out the master crafted agi and str imbued rings. In Dps spec I think I'm pushing around 650 self buffed str. The weapon delay topic has been soooooo over argued it's not even funny. I'm surprised this is the first you've ever heard about it. I save myself the headache and follow suit on this and use similar speed weapons. As for AA spec, don't forget to go with the +to mana regen cuz MAN!! Now that I have max health instead I'm almost always out of mana while raiding. The brawler line debate has been going on a while too, solo wise I think the wis and intel are good choices cuz you'll be going at your own pace, making sure everything is up and ready before you pick a tough fight etc. Raid wise I don't think it a good route to go. I had wis to the end for a while and I found myself saving Craneflock/twirl (whatever the heck it's called) for this or that encounter so I could have 5 seconds of glory on the parse. If you want short term glory every 5 mins. go with wis, otherwise I still think the zone wide parse will be better with the stam, wis, intel setup everyone raves about. IMHO... When we do KOS stuff we get it done and over with, 3 zones in roughly 3 hours... there is NO time between fights for Crane to be back up... I've done a courts raid with the Trusting in Fate dude and he did parse some impressive numbers, especially vs. the frogs with his setup (and considering the gear he had at the time it makes it even more impressive) but when I got cocky and ended up falling down the elevator with the queen..errr witch...(can't remember what she's called anymore cuz I don't raid courts that often anymore)... in tow.....my scout buddy and I duo'd her down from 5ish% to 0 before the elevator got back to the top....so he can attest to my choice in aa's being pretty good too.
Heh once I swapped over to this in the Brawler Line.. I was watching my Mana hit the deck like it had been beaten (prior to this I rarely ran low on mana so I was like 0.o) Then I figured with out the line as high as it was I was short nearly 1k in mana from prior to the switch. So off to find the regen gear now too.
So I swapped over to the Wis Max/Int Max lines last night and was easily hitting 4-500 under auto attack based conditions and consistently hitting 700's. Looking over my spells somehow Silencing Palm Escaped even an A3 update and was stuck at A1 (being remedied currently), Picked through my bags and found some gear I had sitting aside for other reasons based on my old build and started putting that stuff up to adjust my STR/AGI Stats. Seemed to help... Ended up in a Group in MMC was 2nd most all night (behind the Wiz obviously) but when I pushed it I could hit 900 ish and would occasionaly hit 1k+ to hit 1st on the parse (these were few and far between but I felt it was a good start.) BTW the group was SK, Warden, Inquis, Wizzy and Monk (me) so to say it was not even remotely ideal would be an understatement. I will mess around with going Full Wis line ( though I like the INt final spell) 448 Int with as much Sta as I can for Mantis Star/Bolt. Still need adornments and such but I'm making progress already... Anyone have Ideas for the Actual Monk AA tree have 30 Points for that tree and Went Combo but not sure where else I want to go with it. I keep hearing alternate Mongoose, from half the community and "it's complete Pants" from the other half.

Once you have 100 aa's you should be able to put 5 points into dang near every dps aa on the tree and have some left over for mongoose stance. I think I may have had to skip a few of the aoe aa's so I could get mongoose stance....possibly some down the center line as well. Raid mobs facing the wrong direction is always a bad thing...so avoiding agro is a good thing IMHO.

I've been a AGI, INT, WIS specced Monk since the changes to the AGI line. While I do burn through power faster now it has raised my DPS enough to be noticed by other Brawlers in the raids. With Twin Calamities and self hasted my weapon delay is 0.8s. With Baton Flurry my cast speed + recover speed = 0.8s which is perfect timing. Also the 12% increased recast time is nice and often lets me get in one extra spamming of CA's before the mob dies.

<p>Following up on the parsing I said I'd do.</p><p>I soloed a couple dozen basilisks in Bonemire last night. My low parse was 849 and my high was 1390. My average for all the fights was almost exactly 1000 (999.70 - spooky).</p><p>The basilisks may not be a great test - they would die by the time I was 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through my combat arts. If I were trying to really max out my DPS, I would have pulled 4 and used Tsunami and Crane Flock. Crane Flock doesn't help much (if at all) on a single mob that dies when I still have CAs yet to cast.</p><p>A better test for DPS numbers would probably be something like the single and group vampires in the entrance of Castle Mistmoore. They will generally take at least a full set of CAs to kill.</p><p>I already discussed my AA spec above. If you want to see my gear, click my signature. (Generally, I have very good KoS fabled, but no EoF stuff as yet.)</p>
Thanks for the updates.. still messing around with my Respecs and such. But I think I'm making progress, OOB/CoV groups let me try a few more combos of AA and gear, CoV I was parsing right behind the Assassin and Necro but ahead of the bruiser and SK so I think I'm in the ball park and just need to increase my unbuffed stats and make some minor changes to gear and weapons. I truly appreciate the help in all of this. Makes working my way up a whole lot nicer, and hopefully it will help others who were curious which direction to go as well.
