I recently started playing EQ2 because I recieved the free trial from soe for being a Vangaurd founder, and tbh I don't know why I wasn't already playing. The game has a great flow to combat, great graphics, and most importantly I have absolutely no lag whatsoever. I decided to go with a Erudite Wizard as my first toon and it is the first time I have ever played a pure casting class. Now I have read most of the stickyed posts located here in the wizard forums and have a good general idea of what is going on, but I really wanted opinions from some of the other people who play the class.

Now I have been concentrating on stacking Int first then looking at wis and/or power. My current lvl is 12 and I have yet to get any aa points to spend. So far I have mainly played solo but I have grouped a little. I usually use a dot, root, direct damage attack sequence while trying to stay out of harms way as much as possible.

Anyways I just wanted opinions from people who are more experienced with the class. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I can tell you this advice,

If you want to make a fair and goud progression though the game, even if you solo do a bunch of quest all the quest you can, it will make you lvl faster grab a tons of AA and it will make the lvling process less painfull and boring. if you follow that way you will get near 80/100 AA when you hit 70.

Now concerning what you should do about your caracter,

Take the time to discover your spells, ability and skills. Try by yourself to sort different order of casting and way to play. I m a great defensor of learning your own way as it make it so rewarding vs yourself. you can always step back if you made an error(speaking of AA here). Just keep in mind the best wizards have been lvled the hard way and can figure out how to adapt quick to any situation .

Ah just one last tip: dont realy bother buying uberversion of your spell until you are around lvl 55, adept 3 will be usefull after lvl 50 befor they are just candys, it s true they help a little but save your money and energy to get the higher end spells and gears, wizard s equipment and spells are usualy overpriced.

in groups always debuff first.

debuffing solo bring the added risk of breaking roots as every tick of damage has a chance to break the root.

Also in groups start small and work up in the damage to avoid aggro, most wizzys like to drop the big guns from the get go then wonder why they died and the tank gets frustrated on always losing aggro to you. wizzys that drop the big bombs early in fights get the mentality by the time they are high level that they can not nuke at all and are afriad to do any dps it saddens me.

level 24 master 2 choice ball of fire.

But yeah discovering your own casting order is the best as you understand how every spell works for you.

Download ACT if you can to better figure out what spell does what damage. Dont have the website off the top of my head, but normally google search will find it for you. ACT is a tool that gets all of the log data and places it into a easily read chart and pie graph.

For debuffing solo, pick up a hex doll, they debuff against all magic resists. Sure the cast time takes a while, but it won't break root and will last the whole fight. If you find you are getting resisted or doing low damage these can really be a lifesaver.

And its the Intel doll that gives the debuff.
