As an old newbie-crafter, returning to this game after being gone since early 2005, I was wondering what servers seem to have the best markets for lower level goods? I'm assuming larger populations still help, although the eq2 census site appears to have stopped updating their data as well. Any suggestions?

Hard to say on this particular week. Two major changes just occurred affecting the market:

1) All toons on a player's account can now sell on the market. It used to be only one toon per player per account for 24 hours. Now it's all toons on an account for 7 days.

2) The drop rate for rare harvestables has changed drastically. The impact on the market is TBD. Obviously the price of rare harvestables has dropped dramatically. The effect on crafted merchandise...?

If it boils down to the old "picking a server based on population" question then the best advice is to attempt to create a character on the day(s) of the week and at the time(s) you are most likely to play and see which servers have the higher server load. Well...actually that's better advice for grouping, but might give you some general idea on server populations.

The secret is to find the "iPod" of the next-gen market. That is, something is going to go up in value...the trick is to figure it out before everyone else.

SC

PS. All that rubbish aside, AB is a well-populated, welcoming and very crafter-friendly server.

Yeah, I figured it might be touch and go. It sounds like they're planning some more large-scale changes too. AB's population does seem quite a bit larger than my old server (Befallen), so I may just toss a test character up there and see how stuff sells by comparison. Thanks for the tip!
