<p>With the changes to Soak Hits, what is the point of this tree now? It is completely useless and pointless.</p><p>You have to spend points into abilities that are are all on the same timer. only to get an ability that is only active for 1 hit when buffed by another tank...</p><p>Intercent, Interveve and Intercede are all the same timer, but you need to spend points on each one in order to get to Soak hits, which was altered to only take effect while under the effects of one of those 3 abilities.</p><p>Can anyone help me understand what the logic is behind this tree?</p>

There is absolutely no reason to be taking this line. Soak Hit now has to rank up there as the most useless of endline AAs. At least before it was rather good, so sorta justified the 8 AAs it cost. You would be a fool to take this line. The good news is that it means every sane Bruiser will be taking the same AA spec (5 in selfheal, 21 in attention, 24 in knockout) and so we shouldn't have quite so many "Where should I put my AA" posts <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Yeah.. we've basically gone from 10% extra HP as long as our Intercede is on someone else (and they don't get smacked) to a 9% damage reduction while we have it ON US (requiring another Tank to put it on us, and thus we need to be tanking), meaning.. for only 1 hit. Whether a 10 damage from damage shield, or a 20k smackdown. Far less applications. Overall, not sure why we get a TANKING benefit at the end of an OFFTANKING line. /sigh What I'd prefer seeing is the following: First AA: Recast Reduction on the whole line (like it is now, only it applies to all three with this ONE aa). Second AA: Increases Range on the whole line. Third AA: Gives Damage Reduction on whole line (like it is now, only applies to all three with this ONE aa). Final AA: Intercede will only absorb hits that will do more than 10% of the target's health. Also, it now will absorb two hits, however both hits are reduced in damage by 50%. Effectively, this makes it so you "soak" an extra "hit" whenever you use the ability. Now this would be a line I'd consider taking as utility for raids. Every 15s being able to effectively take out two hits, and they only count as half damage... AND it won't go off on stupid little damage shields. I'd consider this a raid tool. Great for pulls or unexpected spike damage, or even just on normally hard pulls. Or even for slapping on an offtank if he has to pick up aggro and healers weren't ready, etc.
