I am a level 15 scholar and I have skills in Scribing, Chemistry and the other thing of about 50/80. I am having a hard time getting my skills up. I have to admit up til now I've not been crafting properly, using the spells and what not. I just started a recipe and let it go. I've just now started to read the guides here about the proper way to craft. But I know that I really need to get these skills up if I'm going to have good success. Please help.

Honestly once you hit lvl 20 in your chosen craft you will only need to worry about one type of skill. Scribing for sage, chemistry for Alch's, Artificing for Jeweler (if I have my skill names correct) and they will rise on their own if you use them regularly. If you want to raise your skills use all three of the highest lvl buffs you have, you get a better skill up rate.

When I craft I tend to use all three buffs each crafting turn, or at least the two non powered buffs if power is running low. Only time I use one buff is to counter an event.

Just keep on using your reaction arts. That's the only way to increase your skill. Use it even if you don't really "need" it till your skill is maxed.

Another thing, Scholars have the hardest time to keep their skills maxed (especially in lower levels) compared to other classes due to leveling very fast coz they have so many recipes to get "first to pristine" bonuses. I think my Sage was around 30 first time her skill was maxed per level and I was spamming arts like mad trying to increase her skill. After mid 30's it kind of leveled out for her and she had no problems getting the 5 points per level. I crafted with my husband's tailor the other day and he was too low on skills too (about 20 points behind in mid 20's) so I had to raise his skill.

Anyways what I'm trying to say is, since the 300% speed up to crafting leveling back around lu-24 it's been pretty normal at lower levels to play catch-up with skills. But don't stress it, as long as you use your reaction arts it will all even out
