Just a quick question for you all.

What are the 3 rarest races/classes and what is the most gimped race/class(s)?

Also, what role (tank/healer/dps) is the hardest to get for teams?

Troll anything is very rare. Female trolls are virtually unheard of. Females of any race that is ugly is quite rare actually. I think I've seen perhaps 2 female ogers since I started playing. Iksars aren't very common in general, but the only iksars I see tend to be shadowknights, guardians or bruisers. Not many iksar casters except for the odd necro or two. I think there was a website out there that actually took the data from EQ2players and compiled stuff like this together. I can't recall it off the top of my head though. But it would break down the server populations, classes, levels, races, etc.

As far as "[Removed for Content]" race/class combo... well I don't really think any exist. None of the racial traits are really "must have" for any class. Sure some work well together, but not enough for any player to feel [Removed for Content] if they go with an oddball combo. I have a warlock oger for instance that rocks.

I'd agree... there is no race/class combo that is 'gimped' in the sense that it's unplayable. Even the wierdest combos are fully capable of being just as effective as other, more common, combinations.

As far as rarity though, I'd agree there are very few female trolls (though my wife has a female troll Dirge!). You don't see a lot of gnome, halfling, or ratona Fighter types. Mages of the more traditionally 'dumb' races such as ogres, trolls, barbarians, and maybe dwarves aren't very common either.

I used to have a female troll in EQ1... her name was "Tinyflower". I also had a wood elf in EQ1.... and am a female gamer.... but now I probably wouldnt play a WE... prefer my mices. Cheers! ~Feta

I started a female troll conjurer, also have a female iksar brigand, love both of them for their looks

I would probably say a Paladin is VERY rare. I say this b/c I've made one when EQ2 just came out and I stopped playing him @ lvl 22. They're terribly boring (same as in WoW). I've simply never ever saw another paladin again, it's like they don't exist. People opt for a pure monk or pure tank instead of this truly gimped class.

Um. Woodelf female, check. Female player, check. Guess I'm a rare bird. Also, she's a mystic, don't see many woodelf mystics, at least not on Perma.

I do see plenty of pallies. Maybe it's just your server, Nordstrom, but Perma has lots of them.

Gimpage doesn't come into it, really. While race can add or detract at the lowest levels, gear upgrades end up leveling the playing field fairly quickly. Therefore, if you're looking to be unique, go for a rare combination.

As Freliant said, lore doesn't support some combinations, and those tend to be fairly uncommon. Large races aren't known for intelligence, small races aren't known for durability (except for dwarves). Evil races betraying to good classes are also a good bet. Troll paladin, ogre illusionist, etc.

Some that you'd think would be rare really aren't, like fae guardians and gnome monks. I see quite a few of these, I think because it's kind of ridiculous.

http://eq2census.com/ is the site that was mentioned earlier. You can look there to get an idea, though it hasn't been updated since November 8th, so no fae or arasai on it at all.

As others have already said, there really aren't any gimped race/class combos in EQ2. Race really haz zero effect on the playability of your class. It is more a RP/aesthetic choice.

As far as rare, I don't think I've ever seen a troll swashbuckler.

And =p I'm a female gamer too, with a wood elf even. Many many real females play eq2. I used to have a troll defiler (remake of my old eq1 shaman) but she got deleted to make room for a class I wanted to play more lol.

Best place to get stats like this now is to do searches on eq2players.com itself.

I have an Ogre wizard! =D I like the idea of an idiot savant. 'Course, it could just be that he's a big dumb guy that likes blowing stuff up with magic. Considering his general mental state I'd lean toward the latter.

"Ovok makn' da orcs an goblins go boom!"

But now I see 'em everywhere. Can't swing a dead c... nevermind. My guild's most popular Berzerker happens to be a gnome. Awesome combo IMO.

I would of thought half elves would be higher on that list, But that list looks dated, you are missing the fea and their evil counter part. I would say the Trolls and ogres seem to be the rarest, half lings seem to be a little rare them selves. High elf males seem to be common but high elf females seem a bit rare, probably because they look kind sickly in the original models. The same goes for humans, more male humans then female humans.Wood elves, dark elves, half elves, fea, asaisi all seem to be really common. Dwarfs are really common as fighter plate tanks and gnomes seem tobe popular as casters. I also have a wood elf ranger =P, it just too natural. But then again I have a wood elf necro and a halfling monk too, so i think i am safe.

Its odd as I play a dark elf necro and have seen more trolls and iskar then anything else. This is still in the noob areas of Darklight forest so, that maybe why, I just got the Vanguard cancelation promo yesterday, so maybe its different in different areas.

Tons and tons of these. What makes mine rare is that he's a Freeport Citizen.

High Elf Shadow Knight. There are 15 on my server and 469 worldwide.

High Elf Necromancer. There are 33 on my server and 719 worldwide.

High Elf Defiler. 11 on server, 302 worldwide.

High Elf Dirge. Like the fury, quite a few of these -- 89 on server and 2040 worldwide. But mine's a Freeport citizen . . .

Ogre Monk. 13 on server. 304 worldwide.

Arasai Warden. 93 on server, 2518 worldwide. Not so rare here, it seems.

Dark Elf Warlock. 290 on server, and 8816 worldwide. This one was created as a sales toon, not with an eye toward being "odd" -- unlike my hgih elves and ogre. I now wish I'd made it a high elf after all and betrayed it. . . but it was made back when you had to kill 500 orcs and the nameds and all by level 17. . . oy! What a pain!

All these characters are an absolute blast to play. And it's fun to get comments about the rarity of high elf sk's when I tank an instance too. Oddly enough, no other combo seems to be commented upon ever. Go figure.
