I just hit level 10 and picked Scholar so I can become a jeweler. I spent 5 hours harvesting resources and got 4 rare items during that time. I get back to the city to do some crafting and find that all of my level 10 Scholar recipes need a rare item to make. I wanted to save my rare items to make jewelry, but there is none on the list. So, I went down a level and crafted level 9 Artisan items.

I get up to level 11 Scholar, but still nothing I can make without the rare items and still no jewelry... level 12 scholar, no non-rare items and no jewelry... level 13 scholar, same... level 14 scholar, same. Not a single piece of jewelry in sight!! Crafting level 9 Artisan items is getting mighty slow now. Did I pick the wrong tradeskill group to become a Jeweler?

Did you purchase your Scholar Essentials or Advanced Scholar books from the crafting trainer or broker yet? If everything requires a rare it sounds like you only got the advanced book.

I checked the Scholar Essentials books and there are jewelry recipes in level 12. Bear in mind that Jewelers also make runes for scout classes so crafting those will also help level the same skill as making jewelry.

For a listing of recipe books you can check http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/a...tr=080040000000. I'm not sure how current it is though.

Did you buy the normal scholar books from your crafting trainer? Scholars should be able to make scout runes (Apprentice and Adept IIIs), belts and earrings at level 12, and scarves and lockets at level 14. Are you targeting the Work Bench? Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLere Vaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere

I'm not sure if I understand correctly, but you are saying that you can only make AdeptIII's as a Scholar?

Scholar do split in to Sage, Alchemist and Jeweler at level 20, so you do have the correct subclass for Jeweler.

As for rare only issue .... Are you 100% sure you have "essential" books and not just "advanced" scribed? Because that's the only way I can see how rare would be the only option to you. Also, as a Scholar you get to "work" all 3 stations ... the scribing desk, work bench and the alchemist bench.

Also, be aware that jewelers don't make jewelery every level. If I remember correctly it is the 6s and the 8s for the rings it but you can make scarf/waist I think before that... but anyway there will be levels of only spells with no actual wearable jewelery items. I was very disapointed but at least the spells make for fast leveling.
