Loot windows will hide items that .... or quest items that you don’t need

I'm killing <u>grey</u> Shadowmen for L&L and am repeatedly getting a "There are no items that you can loot." message from their corpses.  I am also doing the language quest and am getting updates when the directives drop. I had assumed it was Lore and Legend drops, although I still need 4 out of the 5 drop items and I have had this message from over 10 corpses already - getting 10 of the same item appear would be a bit unkind! Anyway, have editted this post because I got the one item I did already have drop.  So it can't be Lore & Legend, I guess. So, any ideas what would generate a "There are no items that you can loot." message from a grey shadowman corpse? Is there any chance of having a list posted somewhere of things that will generate this message?  Can't be that hard to create one as the code has been written to generate the messages etc.  Thanks.

I think it might be a language item. I had this same thing from killing green orcs in Zek yesterday. Though I what I really find annoying is on raids, mobs corpses with nothing on it lay there for a few minutes, when I used to be able to right click on it and loot even if there wasn't anything to loot, just to get rid of the corpse. Its quite annoying to be fighting among a pile of corpses you can't get rid of. I thought that the way language items would work now is that there would be a check to see if you already had or are working on the language quest before the loot was determined. But with the corpse being there with nothing I can loot off it, yet sticking around for quite awhile, it seems that there IS a language item on it, but because I already have done it, I don't get it. Which is annoying.

If it is a language item what language item is it? Sorry, I should have been more specific in my original post.  As well as doing Shadowmen L&L I am also doing the Shadowman Language quest Words from Beyond, which you collect the Transference Directives for.  As I said in my original post, I am getting drops and updates for these (still 2 more to get so not finished). Is there another language quest from shadowmen?  I didn't think there was. Is a bit frustrating when you are solo and have 5 corpses laying (well, swirling) there that cannot be looted!  Especially as I've always hated leaving the places I visit looking untidy with corpses galore all over the place!

Seems that my issue may be due to the fact that I was killing more than one of the mob and that multiple mobs therefore had the language item, as one mob updated the quest the other corpses start giving that message. To be able to continue the language quest I should have waited for the corpse to rot (which takes an extended amount of time cos it has loot).  Or, to put it another way I should not have killed multiple mobs and just killed them singly (and avoid groups for any language quests). Anyway, this seems to be related to a larger issue and is covered in another post so let's consider this post redundant.
