I am new to the game(returning) and have been messing around with different classes to find one that is the best fit for me. One of the classes that really enjoyed was Warden. I got to like level 17 or so, but the damage out put seemed pretty low and it started taking too much time to kill mobs. Now I am sure that my gear is trash as I have been relying on what I find (trying to spend money to upgrade spells).

Now to be honest I chose warden over Fury because I liked the idea of turning into a wolf, now I am thinking I would rather have the more dps focused abilities of the fury. Last night I was at the broker and saw a level 48 Fury that was shapeshifted into a white wolf, looked really cool.

Can someone explain this to me, are their multiple things you can shape shift into? And if so what level can you make these choices? Is there a quest you have to do to get the different forms? Also ANY advice from you uber druid types out there that you could give me I would appreciate it. This game is so intricate that I am trying to take my time and build my guy right and avoid as many painful mistakes as possible.

Thanks,

Faeral

Yeah the wolf is one of the early AA abilities you get, if not the first.

But I'll be honest with you, as cool as I thought the shapeshift abilities are, now I mostly go with illusions turned off.

Hey and welcome back to EQ2. At lower level (below 24 or so), I found that the Warden was more effective on the dps. Since Wardens get more direct damage spells, while the Fury got more DoT orientated spells. Later on the Fury will do more damage compared to a Warden, but at the same time Warden's can do a good punch if correctly speced. Wardens have also the option to turn their spell casting damage spell into combat arts (melee), combine that with the mitigation self buff and proc heals, you will have a quite strong character. Wardens get 4 main shapeshift forms (with some sort of buffs). 1. Level 20 (and upgrades): Grey wolf 2. KoS Achievement box (first box) (both Warden and Fury) Trent (tree looking), gives bonus to healing (crit rate) White wolf, gives bonus to damage (crit rate) Tiger, gives a melee bonus (damage proc) In addition there is fluff spells (don't add anything to the combat) that can turn you into different animals. These can be bought from your class trainer in the cities. Wardens: Owlbear (lvl40 spell) Fairy (lvl35 spell), this is not the EoF fay, but the original one (yellow) Bee (lvl30 spell) I don't have the fury shapes in my head, sorry about that.

Thanks to all of you who posted responses, it was very helpful and educational. I can get over how helpful this community is as opposed to other MMO's that I have played.

Hopefully at some point I can figure enough of this game out to give back.

Thanks again.

They can turn a group member into a "rust monster". Its [Removed for Content] hilarious looking. Kind of like a giant dust mite or something. They also get a self only evil fairy illusion.

Uhm. May have to try Warden/Fury in my mission to find a class I want to take to the end. They sound amazing.

You actually get 3 forms to shift into. The wolf increases crit % of spells, the tiger gives a 10% to land a separate melee strike with each attack, the treant form gives you an increase in healing crit or something like that. These are all available in the first AA slot on the druid tree.

You'd be surprised by how much even a little random assistance can make in someone elses perception of the game.

Furies get the same druid illusions as Wardens from the first druid achievement (snow wolf, treant, and tiger) The fury self buff at level 20 gives you a lion illusion (male with a mane and female without.) The fury fluff spells are: Faerie Fire Wreaths the target in a green, glowing flame. Faerie Fire (20)
Nature's Irate Form Changes the form of the fury. Nature's Irate Form (30) *Badger Form

Call Of The Fae Changes the form of the fury. Call Of The Fae (35) *Dragonfly fairy Form

Curse Of The Un-natural Changes the target into a hideous creature. Curse of the Un-natural (40) *Rustmonster Form

Fury Of The Storm Calls down lightning on a group member to show the Fury's displeasure. Fury Of The Storm (45)

Rowyl's Furious Barrier Surrounds the Fury with rings of light. Rowyl's Furious Barrier (50)
Hope that helps! Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLere Vaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere

I have a level 37 warden and a 70 Fury. In the endgame, I can see that the Fury's dps will out-do the wardens. That said, in the earlier game with the aa's I've got on the warden -- no way my fruy could have matched what my warden did up until about level 32.

As it is, I was in a group the other day wit ha fury. I was the main healer and the fury was in dps mode. Even so, I had triple his zone-wide parse (and 2nd only to the wizard in the group too -- heck, I outparsed the ranger, even. . . ) and I wasn't even trying -- I was helaing 1st and foremost, and if everything looked good, only then would I melee.

I'm sure that the difference is that he'd just bought EoF and had no aa's, where I had 40 aa's and am fully melee/crit spec'd. Had he had the aa's in his spells, energy vortex, and the INT line aa's for spell crits, I'm sure he would have been giving the wizard a run for his money.

I can take blue named ^^^ mobs right now on my warden without too much trouble at all. It's a very powerful character, and I'm enjoying it immensely.
