View Full Version : Things I wish were not true

I wish we did not need to be str or agi/wis specced for dps. I wish I could use dual wield and still be viable for dps.

I wish the devs did not nerf our hate transfers and aggro management abilities. Now we like the cloth casters have to hold back on dps making each fight painfully slow so like the cloth casters we cannot go full burn.

I love playing the swashbuckler class but I am very scared the devs are not aware of the game mechanics as they nerf everything with scornfull glee.

Interesting.

- I am specced STR/AGI , dual wield and always finish top 3 in DPS on any raid I am in.

- Oh noes, they actually want you to think about your combat strats some.

Specced Str/Agi with 27aas, for duel wielding, and I finish either first or second on the parse, getting beaten only by the wizard. Granted I don't raid, I group, but it seems consistent and I don't think it will change much when I do start raiding. I have only ever been consistently beaten by a bruiser who was specced for AoE damage, was our tank and kept switch targets on me making me run to the back of mobs more often than I would like.

Even when I slack and let auto attack do most of the work I never come last for all the people that do more than 80dps.

From what I hear, duel wielding is the way to go in raids. You don't do as much damage as you do with one handers and so you accrue less aggro... ~shrug~ But then I think differently to the rest of the swashies on here it would seem.

I have come to accept it...however, like the OP...i still whine about it. for those that dont like listening to me complaining about my hate xfer or my dps, you can always ignore me!

Adapt to the nerf. First I would suggest not using all of your debuff CAs. Pick and choose which to use. Debuffs generate hate, and with this nerf we need to find ways to generate less hate (unless you are in the MT group, but even then you want to be careful.) Only debuffs we should always use are dazzling steel, lung puncture, and (if spec'd) traumatic swipe (maybe include our def/wis debuff.) The others are situational and mob specific (e.g. not every mob should have Int debuffed, but most mobs should have DPS and skills debuffed.) Don't generate unneeded hate by using unneeded CAs. Also I would suggest putting AA points in Avoid Censure proc increase.

Didn't notice a big difference with a good tank (SK). I have actually started using my de-aggro ability now, though. I think that was the point; aggro was too easy before as a Swashie.

Not much change at all for our raid force, MT holds aggro just fine. Only difference is it takes him longer to recover aggro after being charmed/memblurred etc and the mages hold it longer.

I went AGI / INT for something new. Might not be the highest DPS spec but I like it, I rarely pull agro now, and if I do, I there is a good chance I will proc a 2 position decrease on the hate list.

I like the faster casting and faster recovery of the AGI line, and Boot Dagger (2nd ability in the INT line) gives me a good transition from my reverse attacks to my stealth attack.

If inspiration is ready, it pretty much guarantees top spot on parse, otherwise, I am generally in the top 3.

Feign death can be really fun too, and saves on the repair bill if the raid/group is going to wipe. Not to mention in pvp, it can be used strategically to trick your opponent into following you into an agro infested area.

Meh. I don't see the problem w/ fencing. So we only get to use one weapon. *shrug* IMO, fencing should give you the highest dps. Why? Because the added dps helps make up for the stats you lose by not having a 2nd weapon equipped. When we're talking about T7 fabled weapons, that can be a pretty substantial amount. As an aside, I tried specing to str/sta last week just for fun. Not realizing I only had one charge left on my card. Can we say "Atelos's dps sucked on raids!" ? I was parsing a good 300-400 less than the other scouts in Labs and CMM. So poor Atelos hadda blow 10 plat to respec back to agi/wis, and has learned his lesson.
