Seriously...they gave me a free copy of the game and all expansions and adventure packs, just for being one of the poor souls who bought Vanguard (a game I never actually got to play, not even for a minute). So now Im gonna be playing EQ2 at least until sept 15th. Just a heads up that if you signed up for Vanguard under a different station name, you might wanna try logging it into EQ2 and see what happens, if you want another account.

Though I never subscribed to Vanguard (played the trial and decided to give SOE some time to make it better), I need to post in this topic, too.

I love EQ2 now!! Compared to its start, it now has a nice "flow", much better quests and balancing. And the most important point for me are the areas, they are so cool and the graphics are wunderful. After WoW for 2 years I'm so glad that I returned to more "deep" game (after I quit DAoC I was looking for the feeling that I now have again with EQ2, WoW imho, is more like an arcade game, it's very well done and fun for some time, but lacks the long term motivation and depth and nice, more realistic areas of EQs or DAoCs).

It is why I am back as well. I have to say, it was genius of SOE to do this. They knew there must have been many many gamers who recently stopped playing Vanguard, and were more than likely looking for something worthwhile to fill that space. It is ironic that just the day before I received my postcard, I was looking through all my old deactivated online games trying to decide which to resubscribe to. I think many of us who bought EQ2 at release were disappointed, but had NO idea the strides in progress theyve made since... and probably wouldnt have resubsribed otherwise. Really good idea... EQ2 is now what I had hoped for 2 years ago... and seems to be getting better.

And being able to play at max now with my core2duo, 2gb, and 8800gts-640 is great (need to figure out Anti- aliasining though, nothing i do makes it work!) One thing that bothers me though, it says $60 value, I seriously hope we don't have to buy the expansions etc after the 15th...The reason I am skeptical is the fact that I can't start a new char in freeport or antonicia, or pick cerian races like humans etc..It says the trail status doesn't allow it. I got the vanguard canel promo, til the 15th (played vg since release til last month). I hope after the 15th we get to keep the game and just pay a sub fee. I am playing lotro too, but I am having a lot of fun with eq2 now..so lotro is on hold.

MidnightShade, To use anti-aliasing in this game, you need to force it on through the Nvidia control panel. Go into the control panel and look for Manage 3D Settings, then from the dropdown list of programs, choose Everquest 2, and set the Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering to 4x each. Then save and exit, and restart your computer (you may not have to restart but I always do it, particularly if you've already run the game that day.) The Nvidia Control Panel will now save those settings and every time you run EQ2, it will automatically apply them. So you only have to set them that one time, not every time. The game will not support higher than 4x on an Nvidia card, but it looks gorgeous at 4x anyhow.
