We just had to return our Alienware systems, and got a refund. 3 years of nothing but problems. Anyway we bought these new HP dv6000 at Bestbuy. Some special edition things. They seem to be great. They have the 1.8ghz AMD Turion 64x2 Processors. I have the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 graphics card, 2g of ram, and a 160g hard drive. So why can I run Everquest II? I start to install it and get random error messages. Once it says it's installed it pops up the login and after it scans for updates it stops but never pops up the play option. Any ideas? I have emailed SOE twice and have yet to get a respose. Please help I really want to play again!

obvious first questions we are gonna ask is if you got firewalls running? is windows defender blocking it?

Also be sure to do as much stuff as you can as administrator.

Sounds like you are running Windows Vista. You need to disable UAC! Also, the GeForce 6150 is a horrible performing graphics chip for playing EverQuest II, Vanguard and other higher end gaming engines.

From the description I take it you are using a laptop running Vista. Try following this player created guide.

no firewalls. all of them are disabled. I have nothing running to protect my pc from anything. Scary thought but i did it to see if it was the problem.

The UAC? A little unsure as tpo what that is. Yes I am using Vista and have come to the conclusion that is the issue. I can't fully install the discs for EQ2 without errors during installation. Then when i click on the icon to start it the login screen pops up and I type in my username and password. It scans for errors and then says it's done. The play option never comes up and it just sits like that until I close the window. I have tried everything. I sure wish I could get SOE to answer my emails.
