Epic Weapons: Just some ideas, based on the thread in the troubador forums. Some Troubs want the weapon focussed on buffing melee, some want it to buff spells. Some want a heavier emphasis on personal procs, while others want group procs. Reading that, I had this idea, I'm not sure how doable it is, or even if anyone else would LIKE to do it, but here it is nonetheless. The Idea: The first quest (or first few) should be solo and give you the 'base' weapon. Just a plain weapon, no stats, decent damage spread etc. Just like some of the common trash that most people sell to the vendor. Then for each quest you complete after that, give us a choice of 4-5 'adornments' that we can add to our epic. That way people can customize their epic weapon to their own individual play-style. Running out of power? Add flowing thought. Want your spells to hit harder? +INT or +spell damage. Obviously it'll take a fair ammount of work to get this done, and I'd be SHOCKED if it actually happened, but wouldn't it be cool if everyone's epic weapon was fully customized? Let's say you have 20 quests to complete the weapon. The first 10-15 would let you add stats to your weapon. Then the next 2-3 would let you add a few +weapon or casting skills. Then you add 2-3 procs, and then as your last one you get to add a focus to a skill? Just an idea, what do you guys think?

Well two things:

The expansion is a few months away so sony probably has the epic weapons (the big ting about this expansion) done or mostly done.

Second, while I love having options, eventually someone would find the "optimal" DPS set up, the" optimal" tank set up, the "optimal" heal or solo set up. Soon the epic weapons will become cooky cutter and all those that didn't pick the best set up will get upset.

I like the idea but it porbably couldn't get executed in a balanced manner and would just create a nightmare in terms of balance.

i acctually really like this idea. But it would have to be where you can only get the real uber effects durring the final stages of completing your epic questline with some of the hardest raid mobs in the current tier. Maybe it would give you the wimpy choices out front and progress into the more extreme uber effects at the very end.
This is a really good idea. I am always for anything that adds customization to our characters. Problem lies in a lot. As all ready mentioned balance, this would be like a mini old swg skill system (and although great) devs would probably not like the idea because balancing out that many options would be a pain. Another problem is as mentioned that once you finish the quest and all your "adorns" are put on you might be doomed with an upcoming change. It would have to be changeable at a fee or something. I also doubt that this will ever make it in game, but Kudos for a great idea.

Interesting concept... well I guess not really so much a concept but an application of an idea from other games to the EQ2 universe. I like it... but I agree with the other people... eventually people would figure out 2-3 ways to make it a peak performer... patches and trial and error would nerf those of us who finished it first... and we would want to "respec" our weap lol. the combat changes to have dual wield weaps merged into one handed weaps with new stats is probably part of the move to epics. Can you imagine how [Removed for Content] troubs would be if they are shield and double attack specced and got a dual wield weap? and how "locked in" to your AA spec you would feel if they gave you 2 choices? I mean if I was shield specced and picked a 1 hander epic... why would I even consider respecing my AA... I would lose my epic... So Dual wield to one hander patch I think is very closely tied with the epic. Still curious how it will work out with zerkers specced with 2 handers (still unsure why people do that... but to each their own) Odds are they will throw an epic in the garbage also unless the weap is like wurmslayer....
