Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here, and I hate to make my fist post ever a newbie question, but I need an answer. So today I bought the Echoes of Faydwer expansion bundle pack. So I bring it home and install and set up my account, then I try to play. It will patch the game, say "Download Complete" and that's it. When I played the trial, it would patch and then the button that says "Updating" would turn red and say "Play". For some reason this time it doesn't work. Does anyone have an answer? All help is appreciated.

Because that has no "compatability" option. And by that I mean that when I go to Crogram Files: Sony: Everquest2 and find EQ2.exe it has no compatability option, not the shortcut on the desktop.

Make sure your not rightclicking eq2.ico

There should be some EXE's in there... probabbly EQ2.exe, Everquest II.exe, and possible Play The Fae.EXE

which two do you have?

This is a common bug for me. The launcher just froze up on you. Exit and relaunch, you should be good to go.

However, when I moused over several things, they said "application", which I took to mean .exe. So in that case, I have an EQ2 and a Everquest II application. By now you should have realized that I am a complete noob when it comes to this stuff. Also, LordPazuzu, I tried that several times.

Ya, Windows hides the extensions for known file types which include .exe's. The ones marked Application are the .exe's like you surmised. If you right click on them and go to Properties, it should have the compatibility mode listed under one of the tabs.

play as xp service pack 2, and admin. also disable visuals and anything else that may effect your performance.

StoneySilence + Dragonwulf2: I tried both of your suggestions, they didn't work. Is there a number I could call for help? I looked in the manual, but it didn't have one. Also, if there is a helpline, do they speak english? I hate when I have to call for something and I can't understand what they are saying.

This was not a problem for me (using Vista) until the patch came though - I couldn't sucessfully patch unless I ran eq2 as an admin. In general though I just run the application as normal.

Still, try right clicking on your shortcut and running it as an admin to see if that does the trick.

This is really starting to make me mad. I just wasted $40 on a game that won't work, and I'll never get that money back, seeing as how I bought it from Best Buy, who won't give you a refund. Instead, they just give you another copy of the game. And no, Shyrn, that didn't work.

unfortanatly this is why i willnot upgrade to vista ans this is not the only game mmo vista has issues with.

i ran the release canidates for vista so some what familiar with it . but when you install it does it give you the option to to install it as administrator? but i would probably either try and reinstalling or possibly didable vista auc function which needs to be done to allowquite number of programs to run on vista as vista new security features messes with everything.

have you looked in the tech forums theres a thread there to help whith various issues with vista.

Well, I tried re-installing it, and every time it tries to download the patch, it downloads a little bit and then says"Download Cancelled." So it looks like I'm stuck with a product I can't even use. Good going, SOE.

You may want to look at the thread in the Tech support forum stickied at the top about Vista problems: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...ow.m?forum_id=4 You probably should also show extensions. I'm not sure if it's the same in Vista, but in XP on any window click on Tools and select Folder Options... Then click on the View tab and uncheck the box that says "Hide extensions for known file types." Othesus - Dirge - Lucan DLere Vaspar - Fury - Lucan DLere

What really makes me mad, though, is the fact that I could play the trial just fine.
