View Full Version : Why is there no "Hammer Pet" for the EQ2 Templar?

Why is there no "Hammer Pet" for the EQ2 Templar Class, when the two Champions of Norrath games have it for the Templar Class in those two games? The two Champions of Norrath games were based on EQ & EQ2, so the Templar Class in EQ2 should also have a "Hammer Pet"! Please fix this problem as soon as possible! If the "Hammer Pet" for the EQ2 Templar IS available, however, at a higher level than I think it should be, the level at which the EQ2 Templar actually gets a "Hammer Pet", should be like level 12, so that the EQ2 Templar can use it in The Caves, and the Inquisitor can use a "Hammer Pet" in the evil equivalent of The Caves, for example.

>>>The two Champions of Norrath games were based on EQ & EQ2<<< There are already games based on EQ2?

Um, they do have a hammer pet. I don't know at what level it becomes available, but they definitely get one.

It's precious. Makes me miss my old EQ enchanter's "shiny Bob".

The Devs really should fix it so that both Templars and Inquisitors can get their "Hammer Pet" at a much earlier level, say, Level 12! It really would make it easier, not only on the Templars in The Caves, in Qeynos, but it would also help out the Inquisitors, at least in the Freeport analog of The Caves!

I'd much prefer a miniaturized Homer pet, thanks.

Templars and Inquistors aren't any worse than the other priest classes at that level.

The Templars and Inquisitors need that "Hammer Pet" early in the game, at around Level 12, for two reasons. The first reason both Classes need their "Hammer Pet" at Level 12, is because both Classes can ONLY USE BLUNT WEAPONS! The second reason is that The Caves, in Qeynos, and the evil equivalent in Freeport, are TOUGH at lower levels!

Why would a templar need a pet at level 12? The only other classes that have pets at that level are Summoners and enchanters. Heck, you haven't even had a taste of all your spell types by level 12.

I think you just want to be able to shout-- "Hammer Time!"

The similarities are more coincidence then by design imho. For instance, up until Kingdom of Sky expansion templars had no such pet.

The Templar & Inquisitor NEED their "Hammer Pet" at Level 12, I think, because The Caves, in Qeynos, & the evil equivalent in Freeport, are, according to the Quest Lists a SOLO ONLY AREA!

lol...no, there is a mixture of solo and group content in the Caves. Things that are labelled ^^ or ^^^ aren't designed to be soloable by an average character of that level, they're designed for a group.

About the only time I ever see a templar use the thing is when they are pet pulling something (usually on a raid).

There is pretty much no quests on the Qeynos side in the caves that can't be solo'd. And nothing you can't pull single without a pet that isn't an encounter. There are some in the Ruins that are really tough to solo (if you aren't a class that has invisibility or stealth). Nor (as someone posted above) are either of these areas 'solo only'. There are very very few solo only areas in the entire game, and those are all instances that just don't allow you to zone in with a group.

And I'll have to mention, like people do for all the folks that like doing the "eq1 had it why doesn't Eq2", Eq2 isn't Champions of Norrath. To my knowledge the Champions of Norrath stuff is based on EQ1. EQ2 doesn't equal EQ1 with better graphics. There are many things that are different between the two. =) The "norrath" games share lore and worlds but they are very different games. If you constantly expect something from one to be in the other, you will be disappointed.

The orginal Hammer Pet spell from eq1 is a spell called Unswerving Hammer of Faith and is level 54. How can a lvl 50+ spell from eq1 or a lvl 60+ spell from eq2 be *Needed* at lvl 12 anywhere? I understand Champions of Norrath is a *single-player focused console action game* not even a mmorpg. How can any rules from a console game be imported? Balance would be hosed quickly.

Good idea to get the hammer pet earlier. It would be fun for a Templar to get their first hammer pet at lvl 12. Upgrade every 14 lvls. Soe can balance them where the hammer only hits for a couple damage at low lvl. Just like a lvl 12 has about hmm 11 dps

Anyways while you wait for that very high lvl hammer pet, I have a couple suggestions on how your templar can have pets even at lower lvls. You'll have to research the exact lvls and details on some eq2 websites, I can't remember exactly.

3 'pets' a templer can have before the hammer pet.

A belt drops in some zone for priests only, about lvl 25? summons a pet that lasts about a min? the belt is tradeable and sometimes I see it for sale on the broker. Or you could hunt there and get your own pet-belt.

Tinkerers can craft a 'jar of spiders' it's a pet. You have to become a tinkerer to make the pet 'jar of spiders'.

Join a guild thats lvl 40?, earn some status and on the city status merchant there are potions that charm a monster to be a pet for you. They cost about 3 golds and a bunch of personal status points each, also got to be about lvl 45? adventurer to use them.

how a templar can have some pets that attack things. good hunting!

I prefer to solo with my toons, THAT'S why I think that the Templar and the Inquisitor need their "Hammer Pet" at around Level 12! And for the person who said that The Caves, in Qeynos, and The Ruins, in Freeport, are NOT SOLO ONLY, well, when I looked on both the Solo & Group Quest Lists, those two areas WERE LISTED AS SOLO ONLY!!!
