This is just a test-post.

It has taken me alot of searching and rooting around to get the info necessary to post on these forums. Eg I had to search through the knowledge base to eventually discover i had to sign up to the fan club. Then the link given lead to a dead end...twice!

Why is there nothing about this matter on the forums? For instance a forum faq for new members?

It has also taken hours of updating over a few days to actually get into the game world.

The game did not come with any help files or a readme file for all the messy and complex (for a noob) hi-jinks involved in installing etc.

(the free trial also comes with no guidance or instructions of any kind)

this is a bit of a rant i admit, but I have found it really frustrating just getting started with EQ2.

Has anyone else had a similar experience - or is it just me?

Due to their nature MMO's can (and do) change greatly over time. Any README that would have come would either be outdated in the extreme or require constant updates. You actually have stumbled on the exact right place to be for any help you need. You'll find that almost all the players posting here will be more than happy to help answer any questions you might have.

As for the download speed, I don't know what to tell you past it's a known problem. With the recent influx of new players the download servers are apparently strained. If it's any consolation you are getting the entire game, so if you like the trial and choose to play you'll be good to go. Also if you aren't satisfied with the time you've got on the trial you can easily create another trial and give it another go

In regards to installing there really shouldn't be any hijinks. Simply download the launcher and login, it will automatically download and install from there.
