It depends on the person, everyone likes different things. I play 70 wizard as a main, I really love the big hits they can do, there is just something about hitting a mob for 20,000+ dmg that is a blast. On the other hand if you are really wanting to solo alot a summoner class will suit the soloing more and can also be top dps. Warlock, wizard, conjuror or necro can all be top mage dps. Coercer and Enchanter will have to really be good and have good gear to be on top if at all, although they can solo pretty effectively.

Conjures are pretty fun to and easy to solo with since you have a variety of pets to summon as Tanks,DDs, and other pets that last on a timer or till the mobs is killed. They also deal nice damage and have a heal or 2 and a few buffs for there pets This site might help it shows the mobs a Conjurer can summon. http://eq2.tentonhammer.com/index.p...d=601&meid=

Personally I love playing my necro. If you are looking for class which has best burst damage probably wizard will be the best choice. I've chosen necro because I love necro "identity", by identity I mean the playing style, not biggest direct damage in the game but painful death for the mob and of course really nice crowd control. I really enjoy watching my and my pet health bars, manipulating them by using skills, especially when I face a hard encounter. In my opinion pet classes have also bigger survavilibity in unexpected situations, in most cases you can order to your pet to take agro from you, watch the situation and recover fast or give yourself time to escape if necessary .

I can't speak for end game because I'm only in the 30's, but would have to say the wizard is the biggest nuker out of the casters. Warlocks are supposed to be very good at group nuking but can't say much about that, mine is only a baby.

As far as soloing goes (which I do most of the time), it depends on the person behind the controls. If you are the sort of person that just piles in to a battle, you won't last very long as a caster. Illusionists or any pet class coming to that, have a little bit of a fail safe. Their pet/twin takes the agro and if things go bad you can run and leave them fighting. Wizards have to size up the situation a bit more. How many of the mob can you hold stunned and rooted while you nuke the rest of them. If things start going bad, you only have 2 options. Hit them with everything you've got and hope your health outlasts theirs, or run and hope you can get clear of them before you collapse into a heap on the floor (and pray you don't run into another mob whilst trying to escape).

A few of my deaths have been silly mistakes, like falling out of a tree in Kelethin.

I do pamper my wizzy though. I have an army of crafters working hard on making sure she has the best armour and spell upgrades at all times.

It all comes down to one sentence really. 'Know thine enemy'

Leaving your pet behid if things go bead, not a good idea, the agro will follow you much much farther if you do that. ] I have played most manges to at least 20. The highest direct DPS is the wizard, but they are horrid for soloing. As for warlocks, haven't played that class yet. Frankly I didn't like playing a conj, player her to 30 and betrayed to necro, solo wise the necro is far better at staying alive. Beside haveing three pets to choose from (fighter, assassin, and warlock, they heal them selves ( even thier aoe heals them) , their pet, and have nice dps to boot. Illusionist is one of my favorite classes of all times , they are total utility mages, being by far the fastest caster, the ability to debuff enemies (low mit, beneficial spells, and power pool) , the ability to put several enemies to sleep and prevent aoe, plus a root, nice dps if you have the aa and did i mention they have a pet ^_^. On the other side, there is the courser, they are fun, but they tend to be more mezz dependent and the fact that their pet can turn on them has a down side.
