I used to play EQ2 about a year ago and just decided I'd like to give it another go. Do your characters loose any stats when they are left inactive for a long period of time? I'm still downloading updates so I haven't been able to get into the game and check.

Nope, they don't appear to. I had to leave the game for about 8 months and came back exactly where I left off.

I resubscribed after an almost 12 month absence and the only difference I noted is that I no longer had the race specific Master Strike spells. I also noticed that one or two of my old quests had automatically completed... the one where you get the skill to reset your recall point. And if I remember correctly my Wiz got a new spell or two, but other than those few things, nothing had changed.

Welcome back.

Nope, no character decay or loss period in this game. For the one poster, those master strike spells you have to earn by doing the mastery quests from books for each race, which is nice because it's achievement experience and adventure exp. as well as you are no longer limited to only half a dozen strikes. You can now do creature mastery quests for almost every major creature type in the game.

Legend and Lore quests are started by finding and reading certain books hidden throughout the world and then fighting monsters of a specific type to collect parts. When completed you'll receive a special weapon for display in your home, a copy of the book for display in your home, as well as the ability for your master strike to affect that kind of monster.

I logged in after having not played in over 2 years... one of my characters entire class changed! O_O A little pop-up came up saying something like, "Due to game changes, your character is now a Buccaneer!"

Well there is no 'Buccaneer' clas but probably what happened was you had a character below lvl 20. At one point they elimintaed the base 4 classes and the sub-classes under them so that you now start as your final class. So if you were a lvl 14 'Rogue' from Quynos you would have immediately become a 'Swashbuckler', the class you would originally have gained at lvl 20.

I don't know if you were told about that, but it would be why you were 'reset' on those master strikes.. in order to receive them you have to do the lore and legends book quests for each master strike race.
