Ok so my last thread i posted about Class race thingamabobber. Well i settled on a Fae Templar and i was enjoying it very much made me miss my high lvl templar. Well the friend i was lvling with decided to call it a night so i thought i'd roll and alt. I was wondering what are the differences really between paladin and guardian... both sound good to me so i'm stuck on which one if someone could explain to me their gameplay styles that would be much appreciated or give me some pro's and cons.

Paladin's suck big time and nobody really wants them. Guardians are at least wanted as main tanks. I would go with Guardian over Paladin any day. In fact when I first started years ago my first character was a Paladin because I always played a paladin in every single MMO. But they sucked so bad I deleted him (with all my neat collector's tin stuff like my painting and statue and pet dragon which I paid an extra $40 for) because he was so horrid. I recently rolled a Paladin again to see if I liked him after all these years of change. I couldn't stand to play him and only got up to lvl 12ish before I trashed him again. Right after that I started a Guardian and he is now lvl 30 and I am enjoying myself.

I love my paladin actually. Hated the guardian. I got bored with it. (granted, I got bored cause I sucked as a guardian , but I make a good paladin. *shrugs*) Paladin s do tend to be harder to gain a group with as they are a hybrid fighter class and are not at the top of the tanking or healing classes. They are a great middle ground class but tend to be left out of groups. I can't say for raids, as I am not a raider and have no real desire to be, but I have had very few group complaints about my pally tanking. The biggest differences I can name for you would be paladins are a plate wearing melee class who have a few damage/caster spells and a few heals. The Guardian has better aggro management and tends to be the desired tank for groups and raids. They are pure melee and don't heal. Each has a purpose, and it really just depends on which you think you'll like best. If you want to raid eventually, I'd go with a guardian. You'll have an easier time getting groups/raids in the long run. Edited cause I left out a bit or two and because my spelling is horrid.

Ok well I settled on Guardian after much debate... My question is now... How important is racial choice? I would LIKE to be fae or High elf or gnome... And if you all go BLECH to those i guess human... would it really be a bad idea to go with one of those races as a Tank?

Stats can make just a little difference when you start your guardian, but not this much to worry about choosing a "right" race. Take the one you enjoy most.

Aye, the starting stats don't mean much. The race can differ because of the racial abilities, but not so much that you cna actually pick a 'wrong' race. Fae/Arasai has some very nice racial abilties (many think the best), so you won't be sorry for picking either a Fae or Arasai. You can find a list of the races special abilities here: http://home.comcast.net/~eq2gamedata/main.html So pick the race based on what you feel like and perhaps on the racial abilties

Play that class that sounds like the most fun to play. Screw all other considerations. In the end, the toon you enjoy playing will be the one you play the most.

Sounds obvious, but I have seen so many people agonize over which ONE class/race will be "the best," only to discover after 20 or 50 levels that something else was WAY more fun to play; and the only reason they chose the first class to begin with was because someone else said "it's the best because _________."

Play to have fun, choose based on that alone. You can't go wrong.
