View Full Version : Question about servers

Alright, first off, I'm a brand new player. I tried Vanguard awhile back and was sent a promo to try EQ2. Firstly, I've no clue about which server to choose. My biggest question is this: On normal and roleplaying servers, is there any type of PvP whatsoever? Secondly, when creating a character, many races are not able to be chosen, and when I do create a character from one of the available races, I cannot start in Freeport or Que..something or another. Also, after creating my first character, it tells me that I can't make a new one until that character is level 5. I want to be a human shadow knight...and so far the game is preventing me from doing that. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

No PVP except Duals and Arena on Normal servers (including RP). This is a complaint many have had about this free promo. Apparently you can only make characters in Neriak or Kelethin until you get one character to lvl 5. Then the rest will open up. Why they did this? Who knows. The new areas Neriak and Kelethin are a bit more newbie friendly. That is the only reason why that I can think of.

Okay. This is my beef. Hopefully, someone from Sony will read this and realize the mistake made by just about every MMORPG out there that offers free trials... STOP limiting what you can do in the trials! It's not like you're losing bandwidth! Even if you were, it would pay off in the end due to increased subscribers. Look. This isn't T.V. This isn't radio. To Hades with those outdated marketing models. Leaving people wanting more in MMOs only causes players to go elsewhere. WAKE UP! Give the free trial players full access until the offer runs out. I will bet any of your managers that you will gain more paying players by doing so. If I win the bet, make me a paid employee of Sony. If you market correctly, you will increase subscribers and hold those subscribers above the market average. This also includes timely updates and improvements. Which, incidentally you have been doing very well in recent times. Kudos on that aspect.

Ok first off here is a quote from the OP "and was sent a promo to try EQ2" The promo they are sending certain people is set so they have to get a certain race to lvl 5 before doing any other race. However if you just go to their site and download the trial yourself there are no such limitations. So this is my beef: Don't make words come out of your mouth if you do not know if they are true or not.

One of the reasons they limit it is to keep the plat farmers at bay. I'm sure there are other good reasons as well. Unfortunately, the honest players are penalized.
