After a 9 month absence I've come back to EQ2 but I seem to be missing all my characters. I'm sure they are somewhere but I don't know how to access them at this point. I'm not playing with the same computer I had used in the past. I reinstalled EQ2 using the CD's I had purchased originally and have gone through a rather long game update. I finally got to the point where I could hit the play button and launch the game but it almost seems that the game thinks I'm a new player with no existing characters. My problem may have been compounded by forgetting my EQ2 login username and password. I emailed SOE and got a password reset which is how I was able to install the game. Also, I looked into "My Account" and noticed 2 things I had not expected. First, EoF seems to have been installed on my computer, I would have gotten that expansion but I left before that expansion came out, it seems somewhat surprising that I was not asked if I wanted to order that particular expansion. What's worse is that I seem to be also being billed for Vanguard SoH. I did at one time have a subscription to Vanguard and it's still installed on my hard drive but I canceled that subscription months ago prior to SOE taking it over from Sigil. Any suggestions regarding how I can get all my EQ2 characters back and who I would need to contact to remove Vanguard from "My Account"? Thanks

Are you actually being billed for Vanguard? Have you checked. When you click on Edit next to Vanguards name does it say it is still billing you? If you have it removed from your My Account then that deletes it as if you never owned Vanguard and you would never be able to go back without buying it over (not that you can do this). If it is listed under My Account it just means that you owned it at one time. I have SWG, EQL, EQ2 all listed on mine but I only am billed for and play EQ2. It is possible that you were one of the lucky few who got the special offer SOE sent out to former Vanguard and EQ2 players. They upgraded your account to all expansions and adventure packs for free and are allowing you to play for free till Sept. 15th. That would explain why EoF is on your account. Have you been able to log into EQ2 at all yet? If not the Character Select in the patcher won't have your characters listed because it doesn't know yet until the first time you actually log into the game.

You may be correct regarding Vanguard. I see the Edit button for Vanguard right under the Edit button for EQ2 when I go into "My Account". Regarding the special offer from SOE, I had heard about it but my understanding was that there would have been an email sent to me regarding this but I could easily be mistaken. I cannot verify that I can log into EQ2. My best recollection from the last time I played was that once I hit the "Play" button I was presented with a choice of my existing characters which I could log into the game. What I can verify is that when I press the "Play" button I get sent to the character creation screen. I am hesitant to create a new character because last time I played I had used all the characters I was allowed to create. I'm not sure what would happen if I tried to create a new character. I would hate to overlay an existing character. You seem to be saying that I would need to actually log into the game at least once for the patcher to recognize my previously created characters and as stated, I'm afraid to do that because the only option I'm getting is one to create a new character. Actually, I'm not sure that the email sent to me contained the correct name that I used to log into the game with, the password they sent me seemed to be attached to the "Handle" name I used to log into the forum with and I'm not certain that's the same as the username I used to log into the game. Oddly enough, I've managed to locate most of my original Everquest information but I still can't find the notebook I used to record my EQ2 data. Anyway, thanks very much for the reply. If you can think of anything else I might be able to try please let me know.

Log into EQ2players.com and see what characters it lists you as having...

The patcher will not display which characters you have until after you log into the character select one time.

And if they are not on that account, you can search for the character's name/ server and see if they are there

Are you sure you using the same Station account? You had EQ2 a time back, and you also had VG. Was these on the same Station account? Are you coming back due to the offer SoE made for free play until 15. September (which I think is connected to old VG users)?

I think I got it mostly straightened out at this point. When I got the email giving me a new password it was tied into the forum information rather than my game login information. I went through some old notebooks and found my EQ2 game login username and password . I used that information to get into the game, all my characters seem to be as I left them, I can only be truly certain of my level 70 since that is the only one I had actually logged into the game with, I checked his bank, paid my housing fees and checked my mail before logging out for the night. Regarding Vanguard, I do recall canceling that account while it was still a Sigil game, prior to the SOE acquisition of VG:SoH. There is a possibility that I still had paid time left for that game after the SOE buyout which may account for it even showing up on my account information. Anyway, thanks all for your concern. I did order EoF this morning and I will attempt to get that expansion functional some time soon.

Before SoE total took over Sigil and VG, they were the publisher of the game (no direct influence on the game). So, the servers and billing account system was SoE's when the game was released. Only later on they also bought up Sigil and the rights for the game.

All the old games you've signed up for on that same account name will be listed on your "my account" no matter if you still play them or not.

I still have Vanguard and EQ1 listed under mind though I've not played either in a while. My husband has SWG, Planetside, EQ1, and Vanguard all on his. Both of us are only subscribed to EQ2 currently. Having those other games listed on your account really just means you have bought that game and your account is flagged as owning that particular game. You'll not get billed for any of it unless you fill out the forms to do so.

It sounds like to me you have 2 station accounts. 1 with Vanguard and EQ2 on it and 1 with EQ2 on it. The login for the message boards is the same as my game login. I would click on the My Account above (here in the forums) and login with the one you were originally trying and click on Edit next to EQ2. See what it lists you have access too (expansions, adventure packs). Then log out and log in with the old account info you found and do the same thing. I am thinking you did get the offer for free EQ2 on your Vanguard account but perhaps they sent the offer by Snail mail or your junk mail filter filtered it out so you never saw it.
