I know this is one of those topics that can go on and on because I've played so many mmorpgs, but after all this time I can summon up the most important thing to me in a toon....the ability to survive.

Which class survives the best?

Ty

Tradeskillers that never leave town.... unless you live in Neriak or Kelethin and fall off the edge.

There is no "best" class in EQ2. All classes are able to survive just fine whether be solo, in a group, or in a raid. Just ask yourself if you want to tank, dish out damage, or heal and then then narrow it down from there.

there's no penalty for not-surviving, so what does it matter?

SC

ok, I will rephrase the question. If 10 mobs were to suddenly attack an equally geared member of each class, which one would survive the longest.

For sheer survivability I will suggest:

Inquisitor or Templar - plate armor, shield, reactive heals. Can take a beating.

Paladin or Shadowknight - plate armor, reactive lifetap spell or wards, shield.

Plenty of other classes are tough, but just in terms of "can I survive being jumped", those would be my picks.

If you want raw "I can take a beating solo" these are the classes. I'd prolly put the brawlers in there as well.

As already mentioned above, everyone has their own opinion on class survivability. For me it is my wizzy at this time. There are many factors involved.

It's highly unlikely that I would all of a sudden get jumped on by 10 mobs. I've learnt from the past to not run blindly in to an unchartered area. I scan the area first to check for the lvl and placement of the mobs. If they are too high for me to handle, I go to shadow form then scan again to see if any of them can see through it.

Another factor for me. I'm also pain stakingly leveling my army of crafters ahead of her to make sure she always has the best gear and adept III spells. I use my illy to go harvest the materials because she has her twin to watch her back.

It all comes down to personal choice. Some people like myself prefer to play casters to playing the tank/brawler types, others prefer just piling in to the mobs. You will find that you survive better with a class that you enjoy playing because you tend to learn the class better, rather than just muddling your way through in complete confusion.
