I have returned to EQ II after a 1 year hiatus. I have a plethora of crafters and I have been going through all the items I have - soooo many are now vendor trash . I have a plethora of Solidified Loams - Heptanoid, Octanoid, Unodeconoid, etc. Are these still useful or more vendor trash?

Thanks in Advance,

Karioki

BTW, really enjoying being back.

They are not useful to players so just sell them to NPCs. I believe that all of the subcombine products, like bars, ingots, buckles, etc., are obsolete (though I still see some on the broker). The one exception that immediately comes to mind is Dust from the creation of Adept III's. Dust is still used by Alchemists to make Mastercrafted Potions and Poisons.

You can buy the Advanced Artisan (level 1-9?) recipe books from an NPC now -- for a few silver -- so do not buy Advanced Artisan 4, for example, for only 10gp thinking you got a "deal."

Be sure to check out all of the other changes made to tradeskills in recent years. http://eq2.eqtraders.com is a great resource.

Oh, and welcome back!

Thanks for the fast and informative reply. I knew about the subcombines but I thought perhaps chemists could still use the loams.

Karioki

Alchemists and Jewellers use loams but they are harvested (from hard ore nodes).

There's gonna be some name confusion. Pre LU-24, loams were a byproduct (now it's dusts) used for poisons and potions. Post LU-24 loams are a harvest used by jewelers and alchemists for making runes and combat arts. I do believe the old by products substitute.

The old RARE ones substitute, the commons don't (if I remember from the last time I had some). The old RARE ones can be used in place of the dusts of the same tier. If the old loam doesn't say 'treasured', my advice is to sell it to an NPC. You'll make more on it than you would trying to use it in something.

If that doesn't work, I'd say PM a board admin. I'm leaving the name alone considering the info.....

I often use this chart on EQ2Traders, it lists all the old stuff and what it can be used for today. http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/a...tr=040000000000 I hope that helps
