Ok so I quit in the first month of the game, I had a 25 swashy on crushbone (the First Swashy on the server to be exact till the whole picking your class at level 1 thing) then I quit after reading a WoW review that made it sound like the most awesome game ever. I played maybe 2 hours and quit that and it turned me off of MMOs for a while cause I couldnt get back into eq2 when all the people I played with were like twice my level almost. I thought Id give it another shot with the promotion, so Im wondering whats the PVE game like? Is it good for casuals? I like raid and group encounters. I wouldnt mind trying a pvp server, but dont know how the leveling would be, I can take being ganked but not if its no grouping just people who gank and those who are new and try to solo and get ganked in the process. I wouldn't mind a solely pve server either. any recommendations on a lively PVE server? Id probably go fae, cause that whole slow fall thing is kinda cool and I like fairies even if theyre a little... you know. Im an experienced MMO'er. I was in an end game guild (top guild on server) up until DoN when I quit cause with work/school I cant play those hours, especially now that I work full time and Im going back to school. I play mostly evenings 4pm EST - 10pm EST during the week but I can play up until the early morning on weekends (I work nights). So a lively server around those times would be nice. I could 2 box if I had to, but would prefer not to. So basically looking for an update on the game and a recommendation on where to play and why if possible. Thanks. I know theres probably a post a minute with this same subject, but I like to introduce myself too I guess, better than reading other peoples posts.

PvP servers tend to be the most lively. However, they are basically like you describe them. Gankers vs. the ganked, mostly solo folks running around crying when their toon isn't as powerful or have the same arts that other toons have. Get's boring fast...

Since you've been gone so long, I would suggest PvE. You'll have to learn about all the changes that have occured since launch (They are numerous). From my experience, the most populated PvE server was and still is Antonia Bayle. If PvP, try Venekor.

Good luck

Aye I would also say stick to PVE servers, even if you grow bored of pure PVE, once you learn the game you can then go into PvP armed with knowledge. You never want to go to the pvp server a complete noob, you will only grow frustrated with the game.

Antonia Bayle is a good server due to it's high population so it isn't as bad as others to find a group, most people still prefer to group within a guild though. The game is a lot easier now than it used to be, especially if you make one of those Arasei (since you said you wanted that flight ability especially Glide) and level up in Darklight Woods. You can go from level 1 to 20 in a day there easily with all the quests.

Welcome back to EQ2! On your server question - there is no bad or empty server around here, so choose just one of them. Still best to log in at the times you usually play and create your character, the server list will be sorted by the least populated in the top and the most in the bottom.

Basically everything in the game got an improvement. Come here and give it a whirl. PvP servers are a harsh place to start as a newbie so try out the PvE first I'd say. Expecially if what you are looking for is fair 1 v 1 fights. Those exist on pve servers, but on pvp servers, groups tend to find you and beat your face in, and unless you can live with dying to groups, you wont make it out of yoru teens on the pvp servers. (It actually gets better once you do, but its really, really harsh lvls 10-20ish)
