Argh! My bags are full again! I bought my first crate, but can't seem to use it! I can put it in a broker slot to sell stuff, that's it. I can't open it on my person, nor any slot in my bank. I've heard people have used crates on both their person and in their bank. How? Maybe I bought the wrong type of crate, it was a 60?-slot salesman's crate. What am I doing wrong?

The salesman's crate goes in your broker slot, in the broker window. You can add items to it from there, right below the pic of the crate there should be a box where you can drag the items and drop them into it. Then you can sort through those items and price them accordingly. When you get a chance, make sure you stop by your house and open up the broker window (with your bulletin board) and "place" (I believe its right click) your crate in the apartment. Now people can buy directly from your house and not pay broker fees.

Crates can only be used for selling. What you need are boxes. Do a search for boxes on vendor. I have the large ones that are like 28 slots. My dirge has 4 of those on him instead of bags.

The main advantage of crates is that you can place them inside your house, so people can buy directly from you without having to pay the broker markup fee. The high end crates are also much larger than the biggest boxes (and also much more expensive).

Yer lookin' for Rosewood Strong Box I do believe. They have the most slots of the non-rare boxes, with 32 slots. 100 weight on each box though, so be sure you have plenty of strength.

<p>As mentioned there are different kinds of containers. A bit more lengthy description:</p><p>The first type is what falls under the category of 'bag', these items can be equipped to your character and used to carry more items, placed in bank slots to increase your storage there, or placed in a broker slot to allow you to sell items. These items tend to be cheaper because they can be crafted from common materials though rare versions exist and have better stats such as capacity and/or weight reduction. In general this category has a few main types of container in it:</p><ul><li>Backpacks: Generally hold less, but weigh very little and often offer a weight reduction for items placed in them</li><li>Strongboxes: Generally hold many more items but offer no weight reduction and are very heavy (100 weight per box)</li><li>Ammo containers: Quivers and such that hold ranged ammunition </li></ul><p>The second type are sales displays, these can't be used for anything but selling on the broker. They offer a signficant advantage over bag type containters however. The first advantage is they tend to hold a *LOT* of items. The second is these items can be placed like furniture in your home and allows people to come visit your home (assuming you've paid your rent) and buy directly from the container and therefore avoid the 10-40% markup the broker charges. While this might not be much for lower level item, for more expensive stuff or items in quantity avoiding the broker fee can be huge. Be aware that sales display items can ONLY be crafted from rare wood and therefore tend to be fairly expensive. Types of sales display include:</p><ul><li>Salesman Crate: Can hold any type of item, lower capacity than the others but still a lot of room</li><li>Scroll Stand: Can only hold skills type items, but don't let the name fool you it holds more than scolls. Adept and master books as well as crafted skills from alchemists and jewelers can go into it as well.</li><li>Armor and Shield Rack: Can hold any bit of armor or shields.</li><li>Weapon Rack: Can hold any weapon</li><li>Bag Stand: Will hold any container item, basically anything I've covered in this post.</li><li>Potion Cabinet: Holds potions, poisons, and similar items</li><li>Jewelry Box: Holds bracelets, earrings, rings, and necklaces</li><li>Pantry: Holds food and drink</li><li>Furniture Shelf: Furniture to hold furniture, what'll they think of next?</li></ul><p>There are some oddball containers that don't fall into the above categories, but still fill the same roles. These tend to be quest rewards like the Bag of the Sewn Evil Eye which performs like a backpack but holds a large amount of items with a large reduction in weight. Also note that for every item discussed the higher the quality of the material the better the item will be. A rawhide leather backpack will hold far less than an etched leather backpack; there are no level restrictions however... so the first thing most high level players outfit their low level alts with is a nice suite of big bags.</p>
