so as an ex vanguard player i got the free offer and i am downloading it right now. but while i am waiting i was wondering if someone or a few People could give me some info on each class or provide a link to such info. At the moment i have no clue what i want to play so any info on any class would be helpful. i was looking at the ranger but i have not heard to many good thing about that class. anyway any info will help thank you in advance. also i was wondering how big the world is compared to such games as WOW or Vanguard. i am looking forward to joining the EQ2 community

You can find brief descriptions of the classes on the eq2 home page: http://everquest2.station.sony.com/ Look in the Characters menu at the top in the middle. A better source of info is the class forums. I've never played a ranger so I can't really help you out there. The world is pretty big but it's broken up into zones and some are relatively small while others are relatively large. Newer areas tend to be larger than older areas. As long as your machine has ~2gigs of ram zoning takes between a few seconds and ~30-40.

While I certainly don't know each class well enough to give you info on each class, the main everquest2 website has some simple descriptions but let me try and answer some of your other question... The world size in EQ2 is imho much bigger than WoW but not quite as big as Vanguard. then again, VG is freaking ridiculous huge.

Here is a nice write up for the different classes: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...=346645#3932873 The world is bigger than the world in WoW, but sometimes it doesn't feel like it, since this game is split up in so many zones that I doubt you will ever see all of them, I know I haven't

id say less demanding on your computer than vanguard and maybe even prettier, but heres a tip if your downloading that offer from a trial patcher, it will download the entire game and when you start it up itll act like its just the trial version and make you choose between only a few races and starting places itll even tell you that you have the trial, but if you level a guy to level 5 and then create another one it will unlock all the races and starting places and it wont be the trial any more, i had this problem and it took a while to figure out what was going on. so im hoping you will read this and not think your dl was for nothing like i did..i dld it 3 times before i figured this out :*( (i also got the vanguard offer where you get the expansion and stuff free if your wondering [Removed for Content] im talking about)

I will comment first about the ranger bit =).

I'm a huge fan of the ranger myself. It can be a fun class to play. I played a ranger in Vanguard and it was nowhere near as fun as the EQ2 version.

As for how you will run, if you could run Vanguard reasonably well on 2nd highest quality you likely won't have much issue here other than some of the city zones (and they have been tweaking that).

When I was playing Vangaurd I don't think I could play it higher than balanced with tweaks. I play EQ2 on extreme graphics with a couple of things turned off/down that I just don't like or find useful.

i know you meant the free offer, thats what i have too, but most people download the trial patcher, which if you have the full game on your account you can still download the full game through, but it holds your first character to the trial offer up to level 5 then the whole game will unlock for you, when you get done downloading youll understand what i meant

Welcome to the wonderful world of EQ2. I have been playing for quite some time now and can tell you that in another section of the forums area there is a discussion group for nothing but classes, if you can't find the information there on each respective class, I'm not really sure where to better direct you. I must confess my main character is a ranger and I have enjoyed playing him greatly. I have a few other types of toons and have determined that they all have thier particular strengths and weaknesses, it's all in how much you play them and your willingness to learn how they each work, you will get out of it what you put into it. I also must say that I'm really into crafting, in fact most of my toons are equal in level if not exceeding thier adventure level in crafting. The same can be said of crafting though in that you will get out of it what you put into it. There are many items to be made and I have characters with just about every tradeskill there is shy of a couple because of limited character slots. There is a wealth of information in the tradeskills section of the forums and if you are interested in this aspect of the game I would recomend you take a look at it. I hope this helps you and that you enjoy the game.

I find that eq2.tentonhammer.com has some very good writeups of different classes. In terms of graphics, as people have said, if you were able to run Vanguard, you'll be able to run EQ2 quite well. Honestly, I thought VG looked horrible. I could never understand what all that processing power was going for. There's a tweaking guide somewhere here on the boards that has a lot of hints about what features get you the most graphic bang for the buck. Memory really does help with EQ2 though. I've never tried a ranger, but I have a baby fury and furies are one of the most fun healing classes I've ever played.
