There is a lot of different armor in Everquest 2 but you're limited to which one you should use depending on your class and level. This means that when I hit level 70 the level 40 handcrafted armor is not a good choice for me no matter how much I prefer the look of it. Now if I could combine the stats of a Tier 7 plate armor with the looks of a Tier 4 plate armor it would be awesome and it would also open up a lot of choices when it comes to look and feel. But I want cobolt vanguard looks with cobolt devout stats and the stats? Vanguard is STR, STA and AGI Devout is sTR, STA and INT Vanguard crafted with a alkalai loam gives Vanguard look with Devout stats. Devout crafted with a rough pearl gives Devout loo with Vanguard stats. So crafting a Cobolt Vanguard plate with a spongy loam would give us a Cobolt Vanguard plate with the stats from the Tier 7 mastercrafted. This also means that someone who wants a Tier 2 leather armor look with Tier 7 stats could do so (the armor should ofcourse have the tier 7 level requirement). This could also expand to include looted armor/weapons/items, up to treasured or legendary perhaps. That could upon up a new need for treasured (and legendary) items, find a set of treasured armor and use tier X rare resource to make them have mastercrafted stats. So if you have got over a handful of tier 6 rare resources and want them to enhance your current treasured armor set you're very happy with you go find a crafter and through the secure crafting interface he/she enhance the item for you. Crafters could also find/buy non attuned treasured/legendary items and enhance them and sell them directly on the market. Treasured items should keep their level requirment unless it's lower then the tier X mastercrafted stat. Ex. A level 54 treasured armor keeps it level if its used with a tier 5 rare resource. Same level 54 treasured armor would get the level requirment of tier 6 mastercrafted items if enhanced with a tier 6 rare. The bottom line is that it should not be possible to make a tier 7 armor look with tier 4 stats and level requirment. Should this be used all the way up to mythical/epic/fabled gear or should those items be true unique items? Personally I think a cap at treasuered or legendary items is a good start.
