View Full Version : character creation question

Ok, so I tried Vanguard and hated it. I closed my account after 3 days.

I just got a thing in the mail from Sony saying that they are giving me EQ2 witht eh expansions and adventure packs for free with gameplay until Sept 15. So, I decide to try it. I downloaded EQ2 and went to make a character, but half of them are not available. I can't make a human? It says that it can't be my first character. Is this the way the game was made or is this something from this free download I have. I'm just confused because all the evil races are available, but only half the good and neutral ones are available.

That is interesting. Can you copy + paste the promo you got in the mail? (minus any graphics)

At work right now, I'll type it in when I get home. Go Broncos! I grew up in Mtn. Home

That is quite strange really. Normally you can make any race/class you want. The only limit are the fae and the arasai, for wehich you have to have the echoes of faydwer expansion pack.

As a former Vanguard player myself, I can say you will probably like EQ 2. The game mechanics are similar actually, but the game is far better optimised and works better on most PCs.

A fae is one of the ones I am able to make hehe. Also, why does my first char have to be level 5 to make a new one?

Are guilds divided by faction in EQ2. Like horde vs alliance in Wow?

Sounds like you have the play the Fea promotion. I may be mistaken, but I think with that one you have to make a Fea first before you can make any other race.
If you do indeed have the play the fae trial, you do have to create a Fae first but you don't ever have to play it, just create it, log out, and then it lets you make any race.

I don't know why they have the restricitions. The normal game does not have any.

This other fellow with the problem made one of the availible races, played it to 5 (shouldn't take very long, hour or so tops if you really get at it) then he could play whatever he wanted (which was one of the races that was blacked out for some reason.

Someone else probably answered already, but factions don't work like horde/alliance in this game. You are free to mingle/mail/group/guild/raid with anyone of any alignment. There are special rules servers (like the PVP servers) in which this is not the case but for the normal servers anything goes. The only thing you can't do is freely roam/buy/sell in cities of the opposite faction.
