UI

You can now report spam by clicking the name of the spammer and selecting the "Report Spam" option.

now I realize people from time to time (myself included) are just too plain lazy to type out /report (whoever just spammed you) and especially when the nicks consist of many different letters like.. gregdsythish. so to make it easier on us they are including a right click feature.

why do i have this feeling that all this feature will do is make for a ton of accidental clickies and just make the gm's job even more difficult to actually find and dispose of the plat sellers?

though if there's a confirmation window that'll pop up before the /report is submitted then i guess there won't be a problem =)

The spam report is not just to report plat sellers. It is here to stop players from spamming us with other messages as well. Say goodbye to those that spam the channels for groups, to sell items, as well as the drama queens. The first two need to know there are features in the game that they should use. Players wishing to sell items either place those items on an alt or use the auction. Players looking for groups or more need to use the new advance LFG tools. As for those players that think the channels are there to vent about anything. They need to realize some of us chose not to listen to their drama. Either make your own channel or risk getting reported for spam.

Sorry shane but you have the completely wrong idea what the spamfilter is for and what its intended target is. It is specifically for those that send messeges to massive amounts of people in order to do something harmful for the community as a whole... ie plat selling. Requesting groups, finding buyers for items and the drama queens will still be there an unaffected. If you want to help your entire server curve its habit, you will have to train them one at a time. As you see them lfg on the world chat channels, then try to convince them they will have a better result if they use the advance lfg tools... if you see them selling, tell them to use the auction channel or the broker (although that doesn't work for no trade items), and if you want to deal with drama queens, turn off the game . Well, at least turn off their channel temporarily. Some things you just can't change and shouldn't change.

What if you accidentally hit the spam button, I know I have accidentally hit ignore many times. Does it have a confirm response?

If you don't like "Drama Queens" then don't join the channel you aren't forced to be in any of the server channels.

Out of all the things that you talked about none of those are spam (except the plat sellers). Its people who report people for playing the game and using chat to do things you suggested is spam (which are not) to place limits on things like /report. I hope they start banning people for abusing the spam reporter instead of placing restrictions on its use.

LFG in the channels is not spam! Thats what the channels are for! Not everyone is going to use the new LFG tool and its often easier to find players to fill up a group in channel as many players may not be LFG, but are willing to help! I have seen one player on my server pester players about the new LFG repeatedly every time a someone says LFG in channel. Now THAT is spam! If they don't like seeing the LFG messages in channel then leave that channel. BTW, reporting players falsely is against the rules, perhaps you should read the EULA a bit closer! I do agree the drama queen's need to take it to a private channel. That would clear up the channels so other players can get help, etc. My solution is I just leave the channel when they get on. Problem solved.

They review the /reports and /petitions... they'll see whether it is spam or not right then and there. Even if you accidently /spamreport someone, they'll see nothing to worry about. If you are truly worried that you /spamreport-ed someone in error, then send a /petition, but I bet that they know they're going to get a bit of that. I wouldn't worry overly much. It is going to be a welcome addition.

Since Zoltaroth has started a new thread to consolidate feedback about the spam filtering, I am going to go ahead and close this thread to reduce confusion. Please continue with any feedback you have in this thread.
