I would love an LDoN style expansion for eq2 that does the following.

Using some form of time travel, solo group and raids can get missions to travel back in time to a select amount of eq1 dungeons/lands. The missions can be as simple as verify the exsistance of a particular npc to destroying the froglok ghoul king in hopes of freeing a curse on the future of gukta.

The entire expac would use instancing technology.

The zones in question would use old school eq1 graphics with eq2 character graphics.

Proposed list of instances used:

1. faydwer: Unrest, castle mistmoore, Crushbone keep.

2. Antonica: Guk, Permafrost, Befallen, Splitpaw, Najena and Blackburrow.

3. Erudin:The hole, warrens and paineel.

Each dungeon could be scaleable based on the average level of the group/solo/raid.

-solo- An example for a solo mission. G'thule the dark elf wants you to recover an artifact dear to his heart that was stolen and held within Befallen. The mobs in befallen are a combo of solid even ability solo, group solo and one ^ solo creatures. The player is given the task to complete the mission in 60 minutes, after which the time travel is recalled and the player either succeeds or fails.

-Group- An example of a group mission. Froglok ducky wants to stop the ghoul king from cursing the gukta young. He tasks the brave group to tackle the king and use the wand of abatement that he has crafter on the curse itself. same as solo, the players are given X amount of time in which to complete the mission, and are ported out regardless of success or failure at the end.

-group- A different type could be for the group to be given a task of eliminating a set number of mobs and recovering a number of totems as well.

-Raid- A raid example would see the small army given the task of destroying the cursed minions of brell in the hole in hopes that it will stifle the future demise of Kaladin's people.

Any number of fun missions could be drawn up by sony on this. I don't think that it would be too hard to replacate the old dungeons or just port them directly over.

With the use of level scaling, this could realistically release as a 1-70 expansion.

For old school eq'ers it would be a chance to relive the glory of the old days and for those who never played, it can be a chance to experiance what used to be.

Eq2 developers have been far superior in story writing over the old game, and i am positive they could come up with some incredibly fun adventures for anyone who wants it.

I would love to see something LDON ish in eq2 at some point. But not in the way you are sugesting the going back in time thing just to go into the lost dungoens is kinda lame. Why would we go back in time to use the Lost doungeons? WHy not just discover lost dungeons in our time? And secondly useing old eq1 zone grapchis with eq2 modles would be a bad idea as well because the are 2 totaly differnt engines. To do that would be extreamly diffucalt and to make the game look worse? Thats SOOOO not worth it. LDoN style expantion in the future great idea id love to see it. The way you are sugesting... just no not very good idea.

I like the idea of having an exp pack that uses the same concept of the LDoN exp pack from EQLive but I don't like your idea of the lore part of it (eg. traveling back in time). I think it would be neat if a brand new faction or group of NPCs needed help with missions and a whole slew of brand new dungeons were uncovered. LDoN was awesome when it first came out for EQLive.

The only issue I see is that SOE may not want to make a whole exp pack based on "new dungeon instance technology!" which was basically what the big deal about LDoN was if I remember correctly. Instancing was a new concept for EQ to take on and, well, looking at where we are today I would say that whoever the dev was that came up with the original concept deserves mad props.

LDoN kept me playing EQ1 a long time. I loved that expansion. While I don't know if they could get away with making it a 39.99 expansion today when that technology is not exactly new anymore, I would love to see some way to incorporate LDoN. I think it would make great sense as an adventure pack, because by definition that's what it would become. Not a major revamp of anything just a different adventure line. It's already somewhat available in the Village of Shinn to be fair.
