Yesterday i was playin eq2 on one of my alts while waiting for our guild to logon for a raid. I log'd off around 5pm to play a quick game of Civilization 4, but when i tried to open eq2 up around 8pm it seemed to be loading really slow. Before the launch pad started it gave me an option to create a new user or use an existing user account, which has never happened before. I clicked use an existing user and it continued on to the updater.

EQ2 started downloading a bunch of .vpk files and they must of been huge because the time left to download went from 1 hour to like 3 hours. This was at 8pm and by around 11pm it still said i had 2 hours left, so i went to bed. Woke up this morning and download was complete and i tried logging in and it crashed.

So thinking the download was done i started EQ back up and got the same "new user, existing user" choice and now the freakin download is at 72 hours!! I was totally fine before i log'd off yesterday but now i can't logon at all because it's tryin to download a bunch of stuff i SHOULD already have. Anyone else got this problem or is my copy of eq2 just beat?

(PS. i have all optional downloads and voice packs set to download while i play)

Sigh... I just installed the game 2 days ago and the patcher has been on ever since. At one point it "Update Completed" but it must have froze up, because the launcher crashed and when I started it up again it went right to downloading .vpk files.

Thing is i've had EQ2 installed and running for the past few months. Log'd off for a few hours last night and now i'm stuck downloading a bunch of files that SHOULD already be there.. all adventure packs, voice packs, and expansions were loaded and working fine about 18 hours ago yet i've been downloading ever since.

Any tech support guys around?

If it's getting stuck on certain files over and over.. you have corruption of said files. Delete those files and let it redownload them. Also, check your hard drive for disk errors and file system errors.

Awesome, roughly 12 hours and no TSR reply.

Deleted most of the files that it keeps trying to download and let the patcher download them yet again. Once download is complete and i click Play, EQ2 crashes. Go back to run the patcher and guess what... IT DOWNLOADS THE SAME [Removed for Content] AGAIN! Maybe you guys should take a look at your patch server or something. Full file scan, delete key files and allow it to re-download, re-install the patcher and still having problems.

Been trying to logon for a whole day now and still no help from tech support. You guys need some more people workin there or something?

Sure did, no errors found. Scanned my registry, files, ran scandisk, and even scanned for viruses and spyware. Nothing fixed the problem. About the only thing i can think to do is completely uninstalled eq2 and re-install everything.. but with the rest of the horror stories in this forum about the patcher i'm not even sure that would make a difference, would probably just give me a 180 hour download loop that never ends (which is worse, but not by much, than my 3 hour download loop that never ends.)

Another option you have is to make a copy of someone else's install and copy it onto your computer overwriting yours.
