Hey fellow bruisers, It's been a long while since I've had mantis leap on my PvE bruiser, but i know that sonic fists is never very reliable. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I know there are a dozen tricks to getting it to work more effectively. But thats not what this post is about. What I'm posting about is an update on the status of mantis leap; I want it for my pvp bruiser but I'm not sure if I should get it if its as unpredictable as sonic fists is. So anybody have any feedback?

not sure of the change, but since I have started using it I have a lot less of a problem with rangers and cut through casters with ease. I should preface that with the fact that I am level 43 currently.

Sonic fists is way more reliable than Mantis Leap, imo.

Just an update. I got Mantis Leap yesterday. Wow it's come in very handy. About 50% of the pvp fights I've used it in a manner that probably won us the fight. Not a fight we were going to lose but a fight we weren't going to win (runners). At one point there was a ranger standing on a roof top, me and my duo partner couldn't manage a way to get to that rooftop so I just leaped myself right up there and knocked his butt off. It was great. I even received an applaud for it. Oh and it has yet to not actually work. Where my old experience with sonic fists is that it sometimes does port you and sometimes just agros the target. This seems to be 100%

Oh cool, i didn't really think about it that way but you're totally right. It's not really an attack at all. Also I thought if sonic fists missed you'd still tp there, miss, and tp back. Didn't think it rolled the dice before you got there. Guess thats just how good we are

Although, you can still get Mantis Leap not working properly, and a "You fail to leap to target" error message. But I've only had that happen when I was on a hill above the target. Or, below the target. But basically stairs and hills. Which makes me think the way it works, is that the game tries to draw an imaginary path between you and the target and then move you along it, which makes it susceptible to the usual things that cause pathing issues.

I hardly ever use Mantis Leap to teleport. I use it as part of a macro cause my next art to crit. Usually, big bombs to make them hit even harder. It works pretty well like that, actually.

/useability Mantis Leap

/useability Callous Stomp

... or however you want to use it.

Actually, Mantis Leap can fail, unless when they changed the ability, they removed its ability to fail. Back when I had it about 4 months ago it was like....

Fail.

Fail.

Fail.

Fail.

Succeed!

Fail.

Fail.

Succeed!

Fail.

Fail.

Fail.

Fail.

etc

Whereas sonic fists worked 1/2-2/3 or more of the time.

Then they've changed it since you used it. Been a few days now and I've not had it fail once. And I use it all the time. I use it to leap from ground level to up on top roofs, leap from one roof to another, or just normally to zip from my loc to the loc of an opponent. I've received a "you fail to leap" message a number of times and even when I get that message I still leap just fine. IMO it's flawless now. Finally.

There are many cloth wearing casters out there who will tell you how much they love mantis leap in pvp. No really...
