I don't know about you guys, but as a starting player on his first toon, this game is incredibly hard. You can't find a group. You can't figure out how to scrounge enough money to buy Master Is (and they're never on the block anyway). Heck, just reading through this forum I found out I've been missing the port spells for four levels. I wish there was a wizard guide that tells where all the choice stuff is and how to find the little items that make your life easier.

No, seriously, you don't really need masters, adepts will do you fine until you get to the level cap and decide to start raiding. To make money, gather everything you see and sell it on the broker. You'll quickly figure out what will make you money and what won't. If you're having trouble finding groups, try opening up the guild window (u key) and seeing if there are guilds on your server that will welcome a newbie. There are usually a number of them. Post here with your questions and helpful people will answer Don't forget to have fun!

One thing I wish I could have is a decent invis that blocked some heroic spotters... there's some quest books that are sitting in the middle of areas where a bunch of heroics are sitting around seeing through my shadows and agroing through walls. If they were regular mobs I'd be able to fight my way to it, but heroics leave me almost dead all the way to nigh grey conning.

My wiz is 66 and she's been able to take out white and yellow ^^^ heroics on her own for a while now. It involves a bit of luck with roots holding and sometimes I get really close to running out of power but that just ads to the excitement. There is no "perfect" invis ability in the game that I've seen. Scout type mobs can see invis. If you're soloing a wiz there will be content that you will just have to skip if you can't find a group. It sucks because you lose the opportunity to get cool gear sometimes and you lose the chance to finish out the stories of the quests but, this is *EVER* quest so there's always more quests to work on. Any luck finding a friendly guild? What server are you on?

There are some guide if you looks around enough, but experience alone will help you more than spending your time perusing books (he said to the wizard, what the [haX0red] am I thinking? ) Finding groups will be difficult, as this game has a few years behind it now, and like all good games that age the population of new players decreases dramatically. Most people you'll meet your level range are probably someone's alternate, or fifth, or twelvishish < the hell? in some cases. They will already have their groups and guildmates they run with. As much as it pains me to agree with someone calling themselves BungFoo < the hell? Your best bet will be to look for a guild accepting new folk, and get in touch with others that way. As much as MMOs are glorified chat rooms, once you get past the first year or two, many of the chats become private rooms, as it were.

guides are difficult to write because this game goes through major changes / revisions every 6-8 months. well over 4 times since I started playing at release.

So much crap gets piled into the game, and tactics/mobs/loot/stats/aa's change you can never say for certain.

Sadly the co-worker is now a father and can't play until far past when I usually hit the sack. I also have the problem of not having a lot of time until the weekends and even then it's hit or miss.

Try posting in the server forums and looking at the guild window in game ("u" key). In the guild window you'll be able to see which guilds are recruiting and talk with the recruiters. Getting to know people can be a bit slow these days because most of the long term players spend most of their time playing with their friends but it's worth the effort because of how much more fun the game gets once you have people to play with.

Joined a guild on Saturday. Got about five levels grouping with four other members of the guild. Interesting change of pace. However, there's little time made for your personal quests. I had to take an hour or two out and go prepare my own quest lines for the heroic stuff the group would be doing. I guess there's so much content to enable you to pursue stuff you haven't done yet with alts.
