I am curious as to what resolution everyone is running at. I have decided to check out EQII again in anticipation of the expansion coming in November. Since the last time I played I have purchased a new computer. (see below) I have a HP LP3065 and I am curious as to what resolution I can play at and still have some nice eye candy?, I am hoping to be able to run at 2560x1600, my monitors native rez. Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated. System: -Windows XP Home -ASUS CROSSHAIR Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard -AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processo -Mushkin 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) with EPP Profile Dual Channel Kit -2 EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card in SLI -Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite -Thermaltake Toughpower 850W W0131RU – NVIDIA QUAD-SLI APPROVED, FOUR +12V RAIL READY -COOLER MASTER Stacker 830 RC-830-SSN2-GP Silver Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case -LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model LH-20A1L-06 -Logitech Z-5500 505 Watts 5.1 Speaker -Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard -Razer Diamondback Acid Green 1600 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pretty nice system. Should be able to do fine at that resolution with 2 8800's (not sure if EQ2 itself supports that high though, I only run at 1200x1024). Only problem is EQ2 can be flaky with SLI so it is hit or miss on if it works or not. Just something you have to try out to know. Download the Play the Fae trial and give it a whirl and see what it can do so you know whether or not to come back.

I run at 2560x1600 with 4x AA and 16x AF, with extreme quality minus shadows and particle effects. I can raid with 24 people in mistmoore inner sanctum, without any lag, at around 15-30 fps. This is under SLI, the latest WHQL drivers, and Windows XP. When I'm under Vista, SLI sucks, and I get the out of memory error when I'm using max/max/max textures.

I'd say you should be able to run it pretty maxed except for shadows (Spell particles no for raiding, but grouping you'll probably be alright unless you are with certain classes. I seem to notice Warlocks and Necros create a lot more GFX strain than any other class) Off Topic: Tethias, how do you enable AA & AF in eq2? I've never got it to do anything. (Running 8800gtx here also although not sli)

I've been running in windows mode and I wonder if that might be the reason for all my unrecoverable errors? Although i've been running in windows mode for a year now and never experienced problems until lately. Just a thought... which mode is better or does it matter?

just to let you know i found a big fps boost in shutting off cloth simulation. all so shut off specular lighting in shadows. that one helped allot also.

I almost run my system at max setting. In cities though I need to turn it down because of the lag. But when I am hunting I can turn it up to max. I am using the ProfitUI and it has fast settings for raiding, quality, screenshot and one more but cannot remember it. In city I use quality, but in playing outside the cities I use screenshot. I am running an ATI radeon x1600 w/512 megs and have no issues. I am only running 1.5 gigs of ram and an Intel Dual core 2.8.

Yarg: make sure you have the r_aablit 1 set in any eq.ini/eq_recent.ini/eq_default.ini file you have in your EQ directory. Then in the nvidia control panel, do this under either "Global graphics settings" or "Application settings for EQ2": Set Antialiasing to 4x, antialiasing mode to "Override this application" Then set Anisotropic filtering to 16X. The difference in visual quality is TREMENDOUS.
