View Full Version : Armor Tradeskill Uncertainty

First and foremost I just wanted to welcome myself to the EQ2 community. I have chosen an armorer as my tradeskill and had a couple questions. I apologize if these have been asked before.

1.) Aside of the essential books and advanced armor books what other books can I obtain and at what level can i acquire them?

2.) It seems like tradeskill armorer rush order writs are harder to pull off verse other crafting classes....Is this true or am I doing something wrong? I have all the current counters (progression and durabilty). It seems it takes the same required amount of time if the armor piece is "grey" as it does for "white".

Thanks for all your input.

The essentials and advanced cover most of what you will make. There are some specialized tradeskill recipes out there, but I'm not that familiar with armorer. One set I am aware of though, are the blood ore recipes for the armor you can make in Deathfist Citadel. These recipes are tier 4 I believe and there are several recipes for each class of chain and plate wearers. You need to be able to enter DFC however, because you can only make the armor at a specialized crafting station.

2. Rush Orders are challenge. I don't think armorer is any tougher than the others. My advise would be: a. Sacrifice durability for progress. Using durability during rush orders just slows you down. b. Presort your recipes by 'recipe' rather than 'level'. This will make it easier to find recipes quickly. c. If you haven't already discovered this yet....craft naked. It lets you regen power more quickly so you can spam your power consuming icon on every tick.

Hope all this helps.

Booooooks: 1. Essential - NPC sold 2. Advanced - drop items (NPC sold, too, up to level 9. NPC sold for 51-59 IF you have high enough faction with one of the Maj'Dul factions) 3. Enigma - drop items. (These are for making adornments, I'm not sure which ones armorers make) 4. DFC armor - drop items only in Deathfist citadel 5. EH armor - drop items in the raid zone Emerald Halls (level 70, -very- hard) Writs: Take a look at some of the stickies at the top of the tradeskill board. There are some guides on how to more effectively use your crafting arts. While each class IS different, there are similarities to them and knowing how the arts work can help you. You should use them pro-actively as well as simply to react. It's not that hard once you get the hang of it, but it can be counter-intuative for many people. Time to craft - grey to white: The crafting process is the same no matter the level of the recipe in relation to your crafting level (con colour). While it might be easier to craft a recipe requiring a lower skill range, it is still possible to have the RNG rear its ugly head and smack you where the sun don't shine and make a mockery of your crafting prowess rendering a level 1 widget made my a level 70 crafter into a pile of slag. RNG: The bane of all crafting. This is the 'random number generator' which really isn't, actually, but has its randomness similated with some sort of algorithm. It is known to be streaky and even to outright -hate- certain individuals (or at least feel like it.. but my rare harvest rare -is- getting better recently *smile*).
