Hi all, I'm a sage, planning on crafting/selling from my house. I'm getting ready to buy my first house at: Antonia Bayle server West Freeport, Blood Haze Inn, 2 rooms, 3 slots, 200 items rent: 59s, 3000GSP I've been reading threads here in the forums, and have built a list of things to do/get, but I still have some questions. Here's what I've come up with: 1. Buy house 2. Buy merchant board from ? vendor, place near door 3. Buy 2x salesman's display case and 1 scroll display stand, place all near door From reading threads, I understand to place the sales displays, I have to: - place merchant board on wall - open the merchant board - click on sell - drag display case into one of the slots - right-click on case, choose "place" and place like regular furniture - apparently this auto-sets your house to visitor status, so people can enter to buy stuff - I need to login at least once every 24 hours to keep for sale items active on the market - I need to keep my rent paid so people can enter my home Need help with: 4. Buy which furniture, to get status rent costs down to zero? I'm not too worried about budget, don't want junk, will pay as I go, may take a month or three? to get down to zero. This is my first house, 2 rooms, could use recommendations please. I'm not too concerned with initial looks (work in progress), but don't want to regret any purchases/redo anything. Looking for a dark n evil look, but still cozy. Think sinister, ominous. I'm thinking front room focused on visitors buying goods, eventually a crafting station, and back room empty, eventually bedroom/collections/other room. 5. Decorating floor/ceiling. I do not like the wood look. I'd like the whole room to be very dark if at all possible, maybe so you'd have to turn on a torch away from the door if possible so I can get creative with lighting, making a dark n evil look. 6. Can pets guarding back room attack? That would be cool. 7. I'm confused: what's difference between merchant board slot vs home vault. Do they have separate uses? Can I use both for different things? I tried putting stuff in vault, haven't figured it out yet... what goes in vault? Possible future items: 8. Mailbox? Don't really need, but consider if it's cheap enough (have no idea). 9. I've read some people have been able to make a loft (upstairs area) by making stairs (place shelf on bookshelves then remove bookshelves) and making the 2nd floor (place tables, put large rug, remove tables). This sounds very interesting (and difficult) but something I'll eventually want to do, not sure how though. I've been searching for item costs, all still pretty vague. I know "average" items are roughly 1-2 gold/each, and items made from rares can be considerably more. I have no idea what status reducing items costs yet. I'm new to the guild, so don't want to pester the carpenters too much... don't want to give impression I joined guild just to get hooked up on a nice pad, then split. I'll buy from market initially if I have to. I'm seriously considering making an alt carpenter, so I can make a lot of this stuff myself. I understand that will take time, but thats ok, who's in a hurry? It will pay off big time down the road. I'd be grateful for any suggestions/pointers! Thanks for reading

To start off, there's a great gallery and list of house items, pictures and status reduction for each here: http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/a...tr=070000000000 Your instructions on placing the sales displays looks correct, note that you can (currently) only sell from one character, don't even try to store items in a broker box on an alt or you'll stop selling from your primary seller. This is going to change with GU37! yay! You can see what each of the flooring/ceiling options look like in the gallery above as well. House pets can't attack Some can scare the bejesus out of you tho (!@#^% scare crow) Home Vault is just extra storage like your personal bank, you can't sell from it. The merchant board / broker slots are where you actually do your selling.

Thanks, I've been checking out those pages... lots of stuff! For the flooring, the cracked granite seems to suit me best, if it's dark enough. For furniture, the darker the better. All the Cobalt stuff looks great, but probably way too expensive for me.

As far as 'pestering guild carpenters', you might want to just ask them if they are willing to make 'x' furniture item, once you decide on what you want. Often you will not find everything you might want on the broker. I know my carpenter does most of her work via tells/mails/etc not via the broker.

As long as you aren't expecting the guild carpenters to do work for free and you pay them fuel cost (a tip is always appreciated as well) it shouldn't leave any bad impressions.
