I'm a returning player to EQ2. I haven't played in about 2 months. I really do like this game but I think I ended up choosing the wrong class to be when I first began. The class I started out with was a Paladin (Currently in the high 30's). The Paladin is fun to play but I quit over how hard it was to solo with him (I was duoing with a friend who was a Wizard though he stopped playing and I kept playing). I now want to start a new character. To be get back into the game and I bought EoF to help me with that. I've been doing some research and I've found that the Druids are a fairly good soloing class and it can be a good group class since it heals. Each of which I enjoy. Mostly from playing the Cleric from VG during the beta it was quite a fun class I could solo, tank, and be a healer. The question that is comes down to is that I want to be a druid but which one a Fury or Warden? I am looking to solo more then grouping but I want to start grouping more. I haven't done that a lot in this game. Thanks for the help in advance . Note: I put this same topic in the Fury forum too. I just want to get opinions from people who use the classes for a better over all opinion.

/bump I really would like feedback from a Warden on this. I know Furies solo better then Wardens but how much better? I will be wanting to group more often and if Wardens will allow me to do that more easily I would rather be one of them. I ended up starting a Fury. He level 10. I would rather start over now then having to find out the hard truth later. Thanks.

Depends on how you are actually going to play. If you think you will be soloing more often than grouping, Fury will really help each fight go a bit faster, since they have a bit better damage than we do - at least at the lower levels.

Sadly, there's no one healer that can do it all - but Wardens have great utility, and really good heals. If you solo, you will be able to kill things without boring them to death (unlike Cleric or Shaman here), and you will always be welcome as a healer in groups.

Combine this opinion with the fact that, should you level a Fury to even endgame and decide you don't like it, you haven't wasted the time. You can betray to Warden (or vice versa) and only be out a few spells and maybe a piece of gear or two.

Paladin is a nice class, but I've heard some high level Paladins express frustration because they don't have an actual, defined role (since they can do a little of every thing, but not a lot of any one thing), but am not sure how true that is, not having ever played that class, and since I suck as a tank.

Hope this helps

Roots ...i get my skill almost 400 though with master II choice ... after root brks though(sometimes i start tapping my toe) I smack em with mele stuff.....the key with heavy mobs solo is to hex em ... 3 hex dolls does niceley to soften them up

At lower levels the fury does more damage then the Warden you said. At around which level do they do about the same damage? I don't mind using a warden at all if it kills faster then the Paladin lol >.>.

So does the Warden not have as many nuke avalable to it? How is the Warden when it comes to mele? Sorry for all the questions lol

Hopefully i can help a bit...

Furies will always DPS higher than a warden, no way around that even if you melee spec your warden. But warden's are much more durable than furies, we can outlast furies in any form. Our high mitigation (after AA spec'd) allows us to take more hits than a fury, our heals are bigger and cost less power, we can farm nameds like a wizard since we have the best roots in game.

Solo'ing, really depends on what kinda of solo'ing you plan on doing. Furies can put out high damage which makes it easy for them to mow thru solo mobs, but if you run into a named you wouldn't stand a chance, however with the warden solo mobs will be a little slower (not by much) but you can root/nuke the named with ease. Alot easier to get AA with a warden than a fury due to out root/nuke abilities.

Grouping, Furies do have better group buff than Warden's so it does make them a little more desireable for groups/raids, but due to our healing advantage above furies people dont really seem to care. Either way you willo be able to find groups fairly easy just because you are a healer.
