This is something I have never really bothered with at least in EQ2, but did a lot with in WoW because it was very easy. I'm talking about selling items on the AH or Market place. I was wondering if I could get some help with this, now as I understand it there is no public AH in EQ2 ? You have to sell from the Bulletin Board in your house right? can someone give me a brief overview or point me to a link that can get me started?

Thanks in advance.

There's no public auction house, just the broker and your market board. Two caveats about selling. First, you can only sell from one character on an account. When you list an item for sale on one character, it knocks all your other characters off the broker. Second, your character only stays active on the broker for 24 hours after your last login, so you need to log in at least every 24 hours to keep selling. Note that both of these caveats will change with GU37 (expected next week or so). After GU37, all characters can sell at the same time, they'll stay active for 1 week and logging in on any character will restart the 1-week timer for all characters on that account. First you need boxes. You can buy (or have made) dedicated sales displays, which can only be used for broker slots, but any box or bag will work in a pinch. Sales displays are preferred because they've got more slots and can be placed in your home so players can buy directly from you and avoid the broker fee. Place your market board on your home's wall, click on it and drag boxes into the open container slots on it. Then right-click on the containers on the market board and select the "place" option, and place the box in your home (near the door and easily noticeable by guests is best). You don't have to place sales displays in your house, but it's considered a good thing since it lets buyers avoid the broker fee which makes your items effectively cheaper to buy. To give an example, suppose I've got something up for 20g. Through the broker it'll cost a buyer 24g (if they're of the same alignment as me) or 28g (if they're the opposite alignment). If they come to my house and buy from the sales crate, it'll cost them 20g. I get 20g either way, and the majority of buyers will tend to go for buying direct over paying broker fees. Once you've done that and have some things to sell, open up the market board and drag items from your inventory into the boxes. They'll appear in a listing in the market window. There's buttons that'll let you search the broker for the item you've currently selected so you can check prices, set the price on an item and remove items you don't want to sell anymore. Find out how much your items are selling for, decide on and set an appropriate price for them and you're set. Note that the initial price for an item is the highest vendor buy-back amount (what you could get selling the item to a city merchant, usually). If you list an item for sale for that amount or less, the price will show in red in your listing. This means you can probably get about as much just vendoring the item for cash as you'll get brokering it, and you'll get your money with less waiting. Note that not all vendors offer the same buy-back price, city and faction merchants and the housing vendors in the villages tend to offer the best prices while others will give you less. Check back the next day to see what sold. As you select containers and see their contents, there's also a listing of your sales and a button to let you collect your earnings. It's not auto-banked, you have to collect it from the market board and go deposit it in your bank. If things aren't selling, re-check prices. They can change from day to day, and you may find you've been under-cut. I've a few rules of thumb for pricing. If I'm going to undercut someone else's price, I undercut it. If they've got it up for 5g I'm not going to mess around with no 4g 99s 99c, I'm going straight for 4g. If the lowest prices on the broker are right around the vendor buy-back amount (or below vendor buy-back) I probably won't waste a slot and time waiting for it to sell, I'll just vendor it and take my money now. For harvest commons, when I see a full page of multiple stacks at 2c I just destroy them and use the slots for something more profitable (or pass them over to a guildmate who can use them). It's not worth my tying up a slot for stuff that'll make only half a silver a stack and take days to sell.

If you can only afford one, then use your left over money to buy the best Strong box you can afford.

Third, while still at the broker, click on the "sell" tab and drag the crate and/or strongbox from your inventory into the empty slots in the Sell window. You can now drag items into these containers for selling. You can manage your wares from any broker. When you search for items while using a broker, the price for these items will show both the base price and also broker fee.

Fourth, go to your room/apartment. Place the bulletin board on a wall somewhere. The bulletin board allows you to manage your wares from your room, but it does not let you buy anything. Also, searches from your room will only show the base price other people have for items without considering a broker fee.

Fifth, while in your room and still using the bulletin board window, right-click on the Salesman Crate and select "Place". This will allow you to put the crate in the room as a piece of furniture. Others will be able to visit your room, click the crate and be able to buy things directly from you without paying broker fees. Note that you can only do this to vendor containers such as Salesman Crates, Bag Stands, Weapon/Shield Racks, Potion Cabinets, etc. You cannot place Strong boxes in your room.

Sixth, put all the items you want to sell into the Salesman crate. If you run out of space, put stuff into the Strong box. It is advisable to put your higher priced items in the crate and the lower priced items in the box. A good rule of thumb is to place items costing more than 4 gold into crates, and the cheaper stuff (like tradeskill raws and common collectables) into boxes.

I've done a sweep of Freeport (well, Temple Street, South Freeport, and West Freeport), and no merchants buy items for the price the broker sets them at. Even city merchants buy back at the same price as the "best" merchants in the suburbs. (I go by the price of collection items, which list as 8c base on the broker, but are sold back at 7c at "good" merchants and 5c at "greedy" merchants.)

Dropped items seem to show the vendor buy-back amount + 15-20% or so. I'd love to be wrong about this, if anyone knows where to sell say .. T5 adept spells for 3g20s instead of ~2.5g, lets hear it.

Supposedly the max NPC buy rate is faction based. My faction has never been high enough to see if it's true.
